One of the best curry houses I have ever been to. The food, the service, the atmosphere, the staff are all second to none. If you are in York and want a curry then this is the place to go.
I thought there was a good range of gluten free options here and mostly the reviews were positive so thought I would give it a go, especially as it was only a 10 minute walk from my accommodation. Very polite staff, even to the point of setting my napkin out for me. I found it difficult to understand them with the masks and accents I am partially deaf and we had a bit of too and fro about how many poppadoms I wanted but it worked out fine. The chicken dish I had was flavoursome and plenty of it. Though my rice seemed quite dry. I liked the little appetiser pickles to go with the poppadoms to start. HOWEVER this was not a complimentary starter, you pay for it as I saw it was added to my end bill. I didn't expect that and wouldn't have had it had I known. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I would return there, though the 2nd time would be make or break.
Great food and wonderful paintings in the restaurant. Reasonably priced too. Really set up our week off in York and Yorkshire. So much fun.Food: 5/5
The food was quite nice, if a little oily, but they completely messed up my order, took away a drink that I hadn't finished after ordering another and the table cloth seemed moldy
There is one word. Wow. The food is very well presented and flavoursome. The staff were attentive and polite.
What a great night fantastic service and the food was lovely if you fancy a nice Indian meal that's authentic and not full of artificial colouring highly recommended
Zeera chicken tikka was amazing. As an Indian, I would love to see them using correct map of IndiaEspecially J&K region- please correct it if possible!
Very nice tasting food, gets busy so book in advance, staff friendly and reasonably priced.Food: 5/5
The only thing the staff cared about was making money, therefore they weren't attentive or inviting enough. We were new customers at the restaurant, and the basic thing that any restaurant does is explain how the system truly operates. For instance, when we arrived and sat down, there were already two trays of pickles on the tables. We, as the customer, believed that such trays were complimentary with all the foods we ordered; nonetheless, they charged us an additional 6.50 pounds for them despite never mentioning that they were chargeable. These are merely money-making schemes, and even the food was good for the amount we paid.
Have been a number of times and the food is always delicious. Unfortunately on this occasion, although the food was good, the service was terrible. When one waiter was asked to offer a recommendation he said he only took drinks orders and didn’t know the food menu but the waiter who came to take our order would be able to help us. Although it didn’t sound great when he said he didn’t know the menu, we understood that he was responsible for taking drinks orders. We then asked the waiter who came to take our food order for help. He told us he could not help us because some people like hot food, some medium and some mild. I went on to say that I liked medium heat food but he repeated he couldn’t help us because everyone one likes different things. This is the first time this has happened. I have found previously when eating at Indian restaurants that the waiters are able to recommend dishes based on how spicy you like things and which meat you are wanting. It just wasn’t very friendly service and has put me off going back. We ordered an a drink which never came and had to reorder it. We were then over charged for this drink, which just added to a bad experience. On a side note the table next to us ordered a prawn curry for £18. When it came there were only 3 prawns in it! They complained but were told that’s how it came. It was just a very disappointing evening.
