I'll write the facts first, then speculate on what is happening at this store.nI had a busy weekend so I was outside the store at the opening time of 6:00am. Staff did not open the doors until around 6:04.nI quickly got my shopping and went to the self checkouts. Although these had been manned at opening time, they were now deserted. One of my items was very hard to scan. I used the till function to call for help but nobody came. I moved to another till and hit the same problem. Help arrived and the lady who came said that she wasn't there because she had to 'get the newspapers in'nSo the trip wasn't as quick as intended.nThere are the facts. Now the conjecture: Local people in Ross know that the Morrisons is a bit of a captive market. There may be an attitude of 'get what you are given, and be grateful for it' from either the staff or management. Perhaps staffing levels are kept very tight, perhaps staff training in what customer service actually means is at a minimum. Either way it doesn't feel like a five-star service when you are a customer
Just visited this stores cafe, the standard of food was of a very poor standard. Food preparation would be more suited to a school canteen on a busy lunchtime. Paid for two adult meals only to receive two child portions. Table cleaning was swift, damp cloth wiped table leaving any table waste to be delivered to floor to walk upon. No D10 insight.nManagement was seen but paid little attention to cafe area.
What a wonderful & pleasant surprise to find the coffee shop manned with staff at the till who were helpful instead of having to use a machine or wander round trying to get assistance.nThere were mugs & Cutlery availablenAnd yes clean tables.nThe hot drinks machine was working.nnWhoever runs this department should be given a payrise & praise staff pleasant & helpful.nStaff helping customers nothing was too much for the staff bringing the food out.nnYes, I've been in some of Morrisons other supermarkets and very let down by the poor service & standards.nWhich is why I'm telling you.nnWe were in an unknown area to us at the time it was a busy lunchtime. But still the staff made an effort to make us welcome.nnCongratulations.
I was recently in the area so popped in for the loo and a few drinks/snacks. The store seemed pretty good from what I could see. The toilets were clean.nI remember when this store first opened in the 1980’s as a Safeway!nCash point, parcel services on site like Amazon. Also a petrol station on site which is handy.
Today I visited the bread counter in Ross-on-Wye for a sourdough loaf. I was unsure whether I could have the loaf sliced so I asked a member of staff who was putting bread on shelving the other side of the counter. She was quite brusque and told me to go to the end of the counter where she took the loaf off me and just looked at me, she did not say anything. Eventually I realised she wanted to know the thickness I wanted it sliced which I told her. This was the first time I had used a slicing service, I am not a mind reader. This member of staffs customer service was very poor
