I have used Morrisons Retford for years. During 2024 it is noticable that they have cut back on check-out staff. On many occasions I have waited in the self-service check-out area for an overworked Morrisons employee to sign off a bottle of wine, or an un-scannable Bar code for far too long. There used to be two people doing self-service checkout. Now there is only one. The person on duty generally looks pissed off and overworked. It just takes one person trying to use the self-checkout and wanting help, and you easily get a backlog of a lot of other folks waiting ages. I waited 11 minutes at a self service check-out today. I have approached management a few times. No difference. Either they don't care, or the decision is out of their hands. Morrisons' food is good, I'll miss them. But there is Asda, Lidl and Aldi also in Retford. I'm now doing my shopping there.nI presume this is because Morrisons is now owned by some private American company who wants to squeeze profit out, and to hell with the customers. But that is not the main point.
Had fish and chips at the cafe which was very nice and then bought some pasta sauce for 50p. Worth visiting just for the pirate ship actually the mayflower the pilgrim fathers took to North America hanging over the entrance
My mum practicality lives in Morrisons. I was less impressed. The self scan wouldn't take my More card or my credit card and the supervisor was too rushed to help.
If I could leave zero stars I would, we shopped here today for a change went through the till paid by card then was told it didn’t go through looked at bank it had and no decline receipt came from till. manager Lucy came and told us we needed to pay again we said no as it had left our account she demanded we pay again or couldn’t leave with shopping we argued it and as we argued the till started working and it had gone through even though we had said it was an issue with their till and money had left our account and even showed them our bank it turns out the till had run out of till roll!! there was no apology from Lucy. We dread to think how many people have fallen for this lie and paid twice. Absolute disgusting customer service.
Okay, not loads of disabled parking, and absolutely no signal in store which made it really hard to contact family waiting in the car. The WiFi didn’t work either.
