One of the last, if not the only, remaining gate bridges left in all of Europe. Amazingly well preserved and easily accessed by a nearby parking lot. Parking is free on Sunday.

Bridge is open to the public on certain days,with volunteers manning the building. When we visited, it was an interesting experience made up of a main room and 'cell' with a steep stair case to get in. The volunteers were really friendly full of information and really engaged. The bridge itself looks amazing and is in really good condition with its main gateway and 2 side portals standing above the river monnow.

Love Monmouth been here a while and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. The shopping is ok could be better but everything going is so handy and it's not to much of a trek. The only thing I could say is that after a certain time of night there is only one couple of places to go out to eat which is a shame as a nice walk around the town after a meal would be lovely

This is a beautiful bridge and importantly the only remaining fortified medieval bridge in the UK still with its gatetower.

Interesting building. Not much else to do in Monmouth though. On the day the town was a little untidy
