Story

Modern Hairdressing, one of the countries leading male grooming salons, was founded in 1970 by one of it's current partners Michael Bateson. The salon quickly established itself as the leading mens' salon in the north, and in 1979 moved to it's larger present site in the historic Thornton's Arcade situated in the heart of Leeds city centre

Gillian Bullough joined the salon in 1992 and quickly worked her way to her present position of senior partner. Gillian was responsible for carrying the salon forward to it's present day position as one of the most luxurious mens' salons in the country, this enviable status has been further enhanced by the major re-fit carried out in the summer of 2006.The present day sleek interior was designed by Gillian Bullough who then engaged the company TAKARA BELMONT to bring her dreams to reality. You will find furnishings and furniture by other iconic names such as Philippe Starke, Mies van der Rohe etc.

Awful experience! Booked for 12.30 and still sat waiting 40 minutes later! No apology or nothing apparently the other barber has gone and he doesn’t know where. Walk ins prioritised over those booked as friends with the barber! Ridiculous! Avoid DO NOT come here!

I did a walk in for a beard trim. Hamid has given a fantastic service. He listens to what you are looking for and gives the best service. Plus he’s loaded with information. Nice chap I would recommend this shop and Hamid.
I’m struggling to get a cut with Asian barber as I’m afraid locals barber might not familiar with Asians hair and our preference. But today they nail it! They are very generous, they understand my worries and gave me confidence to give a try. And the outcome is shining! I am really really surprised! Moreover that keeps the conversation chill and funny which makes the experience even better! You gotta try this one they’re the masters.
Always a top service, best place for a trim in Leeds city centre and never disappointed with my fade. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

Not only do they give you an exceptional haircut, they fix mistakes which other barbers may have made. On top of that the price is very reasonable. Couldn’t recommend enough, if you want a good fade or taper, go here.
