Truly one of the best roasts I’ve ever had with incredibly generous portion sizes. Great service and warm atmosphere in the pub, they even posted my walking boots and hat free of charge back to London that I somehow left there after a very wet walk…Will definitely be returning!
My food was very nice but my husband's was very small that I gave him a third of my dinner which was very large for me.nThe menu wasn't exceptional there were too many fish dishes.nOur friends shared meal had too much crispy bread which they could barely eat as it was over cooked and there was more of that than the mixture of dishes.nUnfortunately we went on an extremely busy evening and because of the closeness of the tables it was extremely noisy and we found we had to shout to be heard and it was extremely difficult to hear what each of us was saying.nThe service was good considering how busy it was.
My Son really enjoyed his food, fish and chips and crumble. My mussels and chips were tasty but there wasn’t enough especially as some mussels were closed. I don’t have a large appetite so unusual for me to feel hungry after a meal. I was given extra mussels and bread which helped. I had my favourite sticky toffee pudding for afters and there wasn’t enough sauce and it was rock hard through the middle. The chef asked to see it and Rhiannon took it to show him. I’m thinking it must have been microwaved?? Would not recommend due to the price point for 2 disappointing course. Rhiannon was great, an asset to the team
What a Great Place, to Have Sunday Lunch. With Such a Fabulous View, over the Down’s. While you Eat!!.nThis place is Certainly, worth a Visit!!.
Driving back from the New Forest on a windy and wet Sunday evening, choices seemed few and far between.nThankfully Google showed The Mitre was open and more importantly was selling food!nWe all had a good meal and rest from the weather before the final drive back home.
