Since I'm a bit of an old fart and I attended Milner for the last time four years ago, I'm probably about to praise a lot of things that aren't there anymore, such as Rita's moreish toasted sandwiches or Edward's equally remarkable social activities. Oh, wait. Somewhat unbelievably, Edward's actually still around. If you're not lucky enough to have him as a teacher, you can't really miss him if you hang around the cafeteria on Monday afternoons for the welcome drinks (although I've been told that it had been downgraded from exquisite wine to coke and juice) or on Friday afternoons for the social program activities (usually including a tour of Stamford Bridge, the London Aquarium, Windsor Castle, the Wimbledon tennis museum and many more). When you do see him, say hi from me, he'll know what that means. Anyway, enough with the jokes. When I first got to Wimbledon in summer of 2008, I fell head over heels in love with the area. Wimbledon is obviously the ideal location for a school, with the tennis grounds nearby (if you love tennis, do visit the Tennis Gallery at Wimbledon Park Tube station as well, great books and stuff and Richard, the owner, is a great tennis conversationalist), an extremely nice park full of tennis courts, a couple of great pubs, an amazing Italian restaurant (Al Forno), just to mention a few of its attractions. I also wanted to mention the weather but I thought better of it. Anyway. The fact that it's not exactly in central London also helps. Indeed, it's far enough from the center to avoid the crowd (having to walk through Piccadilly, Leicester Square or Covent Garden during the holidays on a daily basis can be exhausting) and close enough to be easily reachable by Tube (around 30 minutes). You won't miss any of London's best spots while being able to relax when you get home. Obviously, the school itself had a big part in my hitting it off immediately with the Wimbledon area. It's a small school, granted, the first time you walk down The Broadway from Wimbledon station, you might pass it without noticing it. But its size can also be an asset since you get to know almost everyone pretty easily in such small surroundings. I attended Milner three summers in a row between 2008 and 2010 and I can tell you that I've made friends for life. I have people to visit in many European countries as well as Brazil and I recently caught up with two of my best international buddies in Prague, Czech Republic. As far as my English is concerned, that was my first experience in immersion, speaking English 24/7, studying in small classes (10-12 students maximum in this kind of language schools if I'm not mistaken), which is very different from what happens when you study English in a non English-speaking country - at least in Switzerland where I'm from. Moreover, I had great teachers all three times I was at Milner. Although most of them have moved on to other schools/countries, I'm sure the current teaching staff are still living up to their billing. Speaking of staff, never hesitate to go down to reception if you have any questions. Julia (the director of studies) and Amanda (the registrar) will always welcome you with a smile and are extremely helpful. You've probably been told that if you throw a stone in London (and in Wimbledon by extension) it'll probably land on a language school. That's true. There's a million possibilities if you want to learn English in London. So if you want to improve your English while having fun socializing with international people in one of the most beautiful areas in the UK - nay, the world - Milner School should be on top of your list. This school has definitely changed the way I see the English language. Truth be told, I'm actually an English teacher now, which has been my true calling ever since I stepped foot in the City. Heck, just the thought of Wimbledon's unique atmosphere makes me want to book a flight to Gatwick. Just sayin'... ;-) Raphaël, Lausanne, Switzerland

Such a good school! They have excellent teachers and materials especially in IELTS programme. They are aware of what position you are in and which pratice you need. The location of school is really good. Wimbledon is lovely place to spend time with your friends.

Hello, I would like to share my experience with Milner School of English Wimbledon, London. I spent there 6 weeks in a preparation for the FCE exam. We made plenty of speaking, writing and listening exercises. All teachers were forthcoming and helpful (Thank you Rosita ;-) ) and high-class stuff were always ready for help. I also attended some of great trips around London ( famous Wimbledon tennis court, Kew Gardens, Windsor Castle, ...) organised by the school. Furthermore, you can try free entry to a gym and a swimming pool in 5 minutes way from the main building. Studying on Milner school was fantastic and useful time for me. I have to recommend to everyone who wants to improve English skills and see London!

One of the receptionists is quite rude and does not care about the students. She made stereotypical generalised comments about us. My friend was insulted by this but he could'nt reply back or help himself because of his English. I heard the receptionist teaches as well. I will not recommend this school to anyone.

Before to start learning English in Milner School, I had spent a lot of time studying English, but I felt stuck in my improvement. Milner School staff understood well my capacities and guided me properly, increasing my confidence to improve my English level on a regular basis. They encouraged me to do my best and get my goals. I am grateful to Milner School for that. Thank you very much!
