It’s so worth visiting The Sykes Gallery Metalwork Collection for the incredible display of Sheffield metalwork. The skill set of Sheffield workers past and present on show is just magnificent. Also the short films made to show the process of metalworking are beautiful… Outstanding.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
Wonderful gallery with different exhibitions. I went to see the exhibition on the pandemic, which was really cool to see but finished now. However, they have other exhibitions on the metalwork history of Sheffield, which are also super interesting.
Great place to visit. Some really Nice art and crafts on display, from silver to ceramics. Silver displays are very interesting. The photos that are with this review are of a tray commissioned for my daughter on behalf of the Sheffield Asay office. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
Friendly staff, great 'made in Sheffield' goods from the store. Always interesting exhibitions, Phlegm photos below. The gardens have a wonderful cafe for cakes, coffee and hot snacksVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Entered the Millennium Gallery through the Winter Garden. We managed to view three exhibitions before closing time. My favourite was the Sheffield metal works exhibition. It had a museum feel to it. I’ve attached a few pictures:Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Walking through the impressive winter garden to the first gallery I found them very informative. Sheffields metalwork so many centuries old pieces in such beautiful condition. Really interesting to read their history and the history of cutlery! I enjoyed John Ruskins exhibition too, well worth a walk through, with good disabled access
Millennium Gallery is an arts and crafts museum in Sheffield that features permanent and temporary exhibitions, the former mostly devoted to the city's long and distinguished history on decorative and industrial silverware production. The temporary exhibit during my latest visit February 2023 was a somewhat broadly defined collection of national and international paintings on the relationship between artists and the sea. Interesting enough, certainly in combination with the permanent collection and the adjacent Winter Gardens. Entry is free, photography is allowed. Just a five-minute walk from Sheffield Station, it's definitely worth a visit when you're in town.
Entry is free. There is a toilet. Very interesting. Everything described in detail. Worth a visit, hurry up some exhibits are on loan.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Nice exhibition of metal craftwork and paintings in the Millennium Gallery. Cutlery, cutting tools and shaving blades were the subject of metal crafts. More busy as compared to the Graves gallery opposite. This interested me more than paintings as I come from an innovative background. Nevertheless it is a good eye opener to all and worth a future visit. Also the gift shop has a big choice of souvenirs.
Super visitor attraction. Loved the Galleries and Collections. Situated alongside the Winter Garden, this is well worth a visit. There's a café on the lower ground floor for light bites and coffee etc. Do look at the fantastic metal work in the Sykes Collection, which showcases the skills of local people through the years. And there's a Ruskin Collection too! We loved it all.
