Visited in May 2021. A nice wood hiding a treasure. Inside this forest there is a poorly-known nature reserve which contains most of the UK's military orchid population. These exceedingly beautiful orchids flower in impressive numbers towards the end of May, however can only really be viewed on one of the open days
A nice quiet wood with parking for a few vehicles. There are a number of benches along the walk about two miles, although can be made a little shorter including a picnic bench at the lodge. Some sections are gravelled where others are just worn grass trails. Lots of squirrels even on cold days, other wildlife spotted included a Muntjac in hiding.
Nice for a walk, very good for adult x-rated activities... Plenty of ticks so be careful!!!
Such a beautiful and valuable asset to us all. Some areas are full of rare and amazing creatures, plants and fungi. Must enjoy a walk there if you can. Please take litter home.
Good place to walk the dogs, nice river area where they can go for a swim too. Adventure play ground has now been removed
I have a series of geocaches set here and everyone whose been and visited has always commented about how lovely the area is for walks and I agree!

So large and lovely. Signs leading you through so you can't get lost. Very relaxing. Small car park but large enough for 5-6 cars maybe. The perfect 2 mile walk.
Could be better taken care of and diseased trees where cut down in some areas. Plz
