Beautiful, modern Catholic cathedral just next to the University and student's accommodations. The downstairs area is only accessible via an entry ticket so we gave it a miss. Good place to visit if you are in Liverpool.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Last visited Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral Paddy’s Wigwam many years ago, brief visit to Liverpool and much to fit it so not a huge amount of time for site seeing. Went back yesterday to rediscover and renew memories of this iconic building. An amazing spectacle from the outside and the inside delights the senses with its beautiful decor. Sadly the crypt wasn’t open but we are hoping it might be at some time while we are still here. Be aware there are an awful lot of steps to reach the entrance, not sure about disabled access so may be difficult for some. There is a calmness inside and it affords you the sense of being able to sit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. So pleased we went back, definitely worth a visit if you are in the area,
Beautiful cathedral , well worth visiting. The space large, airy and very spiritual, and random stained glass is very effective. The staff are helpful and it is a lovely place to while away an hour or so. I expect the Anglican cathedral is fed up that everyone visits here instead !Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
The sunday's mass experience was sensational. Haven't seen such a massive structure for worship earlier. Sunday mass, especially the solemn mass, Is the best christian experience you can have in LiverpoolVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A very modern looking cathedral set up in the round. The real attraction is the crypt level that was closed when we were there. The information counter told us that the university adjacent rented the space to conduct exams.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Quirky design this church. It is a spectacular building that can be spotted from various points in the city. Great place to catch sunset. There is paid parking in the roads nearby. The church is not too far from the town centre and can be easily reached on foot.
The Cathedral's brutalist exterior belies the calm, peaceful and rather beautiful interior. The place is startling, quite unlike any cathedral I have visited before. If I was searching for a place to sit in quiet meditation, this would be it. The staff were helpful but unobtrusive. It was a lovely moment of peace amid the bustling city. If visitors have any mobility problems, the ceremonial steps at the front can be daunting and so it is easier enter via the garden or carpark at the rear, where there is a lift up into the church.
Beautiful place, lovely service, open to public. Really amazing glass panes - ideal to see on a sunny day. Also, I do strongly recommend visiting The Crypt - said to be the 3rd largest cathedral in the city. Amazing building and treasures.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Amazing architecture, but I was slightly disappointed. I was hoping to see more of the stained glass in the tower, but it was all a bit too high up and smaller than I was expecting. Still worth a visit.
Cathedral is beautiful inside, but it is well worth visiting the crypt. The scale of the "subterranean" works are so impressive and so are the various artifacts. Highly recommended.
