This is an unusual cathedral in that it's built in the old style yet hasn't even been completed for 100 years! When you walk around, you are struck by the size and it's much simpler in its decor of other cathedrals as there isn't the centuries of memorials or reflections of history that you see elsewhere. Free to enter but donations are requested.
It's such a fabulous piece of architecture! We loved our visit so much, and it is one we will remember for years to come. It was really great and very large we managed to spend a full hour here. My only complaint would be the modern art displayed here. It is nice, and I definitely see how some would adore it. However, the pieces were quite large and rather intrusive they were mainly bright red as they did not fit the general theme of a cathedral. Personally, I feel like it would be better in its original format. With that said, the rest was stunning, and I would definitely return in the future.
What a stunning building inside! Absolutely gorgeous example of its kind. Stained glass and a temporary exhibition were enjoyed whilst listening to the Northumbrian Chamber Choir rehearse ahead of performances that day. Free entry with a donation is delightful and I was glad to pay. Would highly recommend.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
The cathedral is certainly very large. The sheer size is worth going to see. Being relatively new by European standards it doesn't have the gravitas of the older cathedrals but tries to engage interest by having thought-provoking sculptures dotted around the building.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Britains largest cathedral in all of its glory. What a majestic masterpiece of architecture it is. Built in a Gothic style between 1904 and 1978. It’s 101 metres high. Free to enter donations accepted and absolutely worth a visit. Just as breathtaking inside as the outer architecture. Overwhelming amounts to take in, such as incredible stained glass, wall & ceiling carvings and multiple different halls to walk around.
Beautiful building. The views from up top are amazing. Just be aware of the amount of stairs. 108 to the top once you've been in the lifts. Staff are also very nice
We've lost count of how many times we've visited Liverpool but we've never visited this Cathedral so we thought it was about time we did. To be honest it's never looked very appealing to me from the outside, it looks very dark and oppressive BUT on entering we were very surprised at just how spectacular it is. It's hugely vast and there's lots to see and photograph. There's a gift shop, cafe and toilets on site too. Definitely worth a visit.
The cathedral is a must see for anyone visiting the city. It's obvious but the size of it is just awe inspiring when you see it in person. There's loads to learn inside and take in as you walk around, with such a peaceful and serene atmosphere. We loved being able to just sit at various points and try and take it all in.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Incredible building, awe inspiring with its size and hard to believe it’s only just a century old as it seems so much more historic. The scale of the building and the architectural detail on both the outside and inside is on another level. The views from the tower, which is publicly accessible for a small fee, are truly breathtaking, taking in the river, over to the Wirral as well as sights of the other cathedral, the docks and even as far as the football stadia either side of Stanley Park. In addition, on the grounds there is the cemetery and the oratory which offer additional historic intrigue. When I visited, there was also an exhibition from Anish Kapoor which accented the space very well.
Huge cathedral with some interesting architecture to see. The inside has obviously had considerable renovation. Maybe it was because I attended on a day there was to be a graduation ceremony, but there lacked information boards or screens to give history and context to what I was seeing. Well worth a visit Entry is by donation
