Stayed at Whately Hall Hotel for New Years Eve, only booking a couple of days beforehand.nnEverything was great, especially the guy that checked us in, he was very helpful.nnRooms in the main hotel was really lovely, great size bed and quiet as it was at the back of the hotel. The breakfast was very good, lots of selection.
Recently had a 6 night stay at the Whately and couldn't compliment staff enough on their willingness to please guests and overall good customer service. From the guy that checked us in after midnight & carried our cases to our room, to the friendly & helpful ladies in housekeeping & at breakfast service, nothing was too much trouble. A shout out to the lovely guy on the front desk on the 1-10-25 & 6-10-25, who found us a more suitable room to accommodate our mobility issues, he made our stay so much more comfortable, which was greatly appreciated. I would recommend one of the recently refurbished rooms for a really comfortable stay.
Ever since I moved up to the Banbury area just over a year ago I have had a yearning to stay at the Whately hall hotel and just before Christmas I realised that I had a small gap in my calendar so I booked a one night stay for my partner and I to stay in one of the suites last night and the reason I booked a suite was because of the photos I had seen on the website it just looked absolutely perfect.nNow obviously I had read a fair few reviews that people had left and overall there wasn’t much to be concerned about if you ignored the comments about creaky floors and the place looking dated, anyway we eventually checked in yesterday once someone had decided to man the reception area for us to be given our room number and key once we had that we went upstairs to find our room and I say room because that was all it was!nYes there was a sofa as you walked through the door but you can’t call a hallway a living room just because you’ve plonked a sofa bed in it!nNow I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels over the years and one of the major things you have to get right is the mattress and the pillows which sadly fell well below expectations with regards to comfort and size and on the subject of size the fact that the bigger tv was on the wall in the hallway meant that we had to basically sit squinting at the smaller tv that was on the wall in the bedroom area!nAs I said I booked a suite because of the pictures I had seen on the website which as it turns out were not pictures of the sub standard accommodation that we were given….nAt the very least it’s false representation which needs to be corrected because what should have been a memorable experience for all the right reasons turned out to be one for all the wrong reasons!
We were gifted a voucher for afternoon tea at Whatley Hall. I can honestly say it was the best. All our dietary needs were catered for, then checked with us to confirm before bringing the food out.nThe only critism was that there very little atmosphere. Some gentle christmas music would have been nice.nWould definitely recommend.
Room was nothing like the photos on the website. Needs a lot of work doing to it. Looked like one of the rooms that the asylum seekers had. We booked it through booking.com not direct so that could have been a reason why we had this room.nToilet was stained at the bottom. Shower head was split so could have sat on the toilet and had a shower at the same time. Bed frame too big for mattress. Duvet cover too big for duvet. Window warped so didn’t close properly. Cracks on the bathroom ceiling. Extractor fan rusty and didn’t work.nBreakfast was okay but could be better. Glorified coffee flask. I have non-dairy milk which was left at on a table with the gluten-free breakfast. Milk was not cold. I like cold milk with my cereal!
