my friend and i just visited this campsite and we had a lovely time. it was extremely safe we were able to leave our belongings inside our tent etc. there were 3 portable toilets in the field we camped in and at no point did we have to queue and they were well maintained. there were sinks, a tap and a large bin available nearby. the campsite owner was very helpful and polite. the surrounding area was lovely and i would highly recommend this campsite as a place to stay.
Lovely camp site in beautiful surroundings. Good facilities and lovely owners. Had a wonderful relaxing weekend camping near the river, with lots of walks round the hills a bit of a struggle at 34°C. We’ll definitely be back!
My wife and I recently had our wedding in the mellow farm barn and we cannot thank James enough he has been amazing helping us and being very flexible with what has been an experience organising a wedding. The barn is an absolutely stunning venue and if you are looking for a rustic look for your wedding this is the place to go. With hotels fairly close and amazing surroundings it is breathtaking. We would like to thank James and all of our guests for making our day extra special. Thank you
I cannot reconcile the positive reviews here with our experience which left my friend and I shaken and our two young daughters in tears. I live locally and wanted to give this site a try. We drove to reception with our two girls for our much anticipated trip to ‘meet the farmer who owns the campsite’. As we waited at reception our girls began innocently tinkering with an old-fashioned American style mail box in the yard. Not ideal and we would have asked them to stop had we seen, but not the crime of the century. The next thing, we heard a man screaming down at us all, who at closer range was shaking with anger. We were all so shocked we did not know what to say. He continued to rage, accusing my friend and I of not bringing up our children properly, and then yelled at my daughter ‘and you can wipe that smirk of your face.’ They were not smirking - they were frightened and deeply uncomfortable. They are nine years old, well behaved, and good kids. I have never heard an adult speak to a child with so much open disdain and malice in my life and it depressed me to the core. We left and found another campsite where we were welcomed and met a lovely group of lads looking to relax not rave who had been moved on from Mellow Farm for reasons they were not entirely sure about. They were entirely respectful in their new setting and equally upset at their experience. Why the proprietor does not clearly explain that the site is not suitable for groups, or children BEING children, as he clearly will not tolerate either might remain a mystery, but I suspect that by allowing the bookings they afford him the ability to exert a level of unpleasant control. I am still deeply angry at him for speaking directly to my young child with such aggression, but in truth I am more angry at myself for freezing in a moment of shock, and not standing up to him. Do not come here. Go somewhere else. There are plenty of lovely sites close by where you will feel welcomed and tolerated.
I am thoroughly disappointed and disgusted with the way that not only myself but my service animal has been treated upon arriving at this campsite after I had pitched my tent, a member of the staff who did not introduce herself, came storming over, and in her words, said that I have to “put that thing on a lead”. I informed her that he is an assistance dog and that he needed to be off lead in order to perform his duties. She informed me that either he goes on the lead, or I have to leave the campsite or run the risk of my dog being put down. As a military veterans suffering with severe medical issues. This ended up triggering a very bad episode which ruined the rest of my day. At 2300 that evening, another member of staff, who did not introduce themselves told us that we “have to go to bed”. Our group consisted of frontline paramedics, police officers and military personnel as well as veterans, the way we were spoken to was extremely patronising. The way that I have been treated by the management and staff of this establishments is completely unacceptable and I have never been so insulted in my life. The level of rudeness shown by members of the management is absolutely disgusting and I would advise campers to search for another campsite.
Great weekend spent lazing on the farm. The owners are friendly and helpful and clearly care about the enjoyment of their guests. They offer wood and fire pits at a reasonable price, the scenery is idyllic countryside and the activities on offer are brilliant. They include swimming or canoeing in the river, wandering around the farm checking out all the animals and cooking up some fresh bacon and eggs from the farm shop. Can't wait to go back! Edit:- Forgot to mention the all important toilets and showers. Very clean and tidy well stocked and good washing up facilities. The showers do cost £1 new so bring a couple with you.
Wonderful weekend. Real proper camping, scenic field surrounded by trees with a river running through it. Utter peace. Bought fresh eggs and homemade jam and chutney from the farm, total pleasure
Good basic campsite with a lovely stream going through each of the 3 fields. Toilet, washing and shower facilities not too far and helpful staff.
Was a horrible time we stayed for a night waa ment to be there for 2 night but got kicked off for “breaking the rules” but we defo didnt we went to a different campsite and seen people from there who also had been kicked off before they had even got on to the site This place should be avoided at all costs the owners are disgusting and have a horrible attitude and are just straight up rude Dont come here ever!!!!!!!!!!
Reminded me of Camp Chipwa from the Adams Family, I went there with School many years ago now and the school hired it out for a week for camping and was around the local area doing loads
