Canadian certified poutine! Have gone here twice now at lunchtime to try out their poutine and I'd have to say it's the most authentic in Edinburgh! The cheese curds are the right size, the fries are crispy and the gravy is not too thick and not to thin. First time I was there I had a burger with poutine and the second time poutine by itself. Burger was good but nothing special and the streaky bacon wasn't crispy enough for me, hence the four stars not five, poutine was excellent both times! Service was good and the food came quickly although I was definitely there during off-peak hours and it wasn't busy either time I was there.
Nice pub. Big screens and lovely food!!
Went off peak on a Sunday afternoon to try the poutine new to their menu. Staff were friendly, pub was very quietly bustling, and this poutine is Canadian approved by me!
I've been there for a wee celebration with my colleagues! I had made a reservation in advance and the service was extremely fast and helpful! Very nice and friendly atmosphere..that day Friday there was also live music... jolly good place! Recommended!
Great venue ,Guinness was how you would like . Good display of drinks behind the bar and the staff were on the ball when serving you ,all with a smile.
Great atmosphere and can't be beaten for watching football. Absolutely enormous screens and several of them. Basic nibbles available like cheesy chips, bacon wrapped chilli peppers, chicken skewers etc which are nice enough, and had live music too ! Great night all round.
The service here was very quick. The ambience was lit.
Down the Hatch food is great. Not quite as good as out a Port Edgar but way easier to get to and still delicious. Great value for in town. Good with a group. Nice to get a beer with it!
Great venue for watching sport. Have a large screen for showing the main event but have a number of TVs that will show other sport at the same time. Also have other areas without TVs if that is not your thing.
I love this place. It's Edinburgh prices but has a fantastic atmosphere and the staff treat you well. So today, it was Ireland v Scotland in the Rugby World Cup and we had drinks and a bacon roll. Two of us even got a free hoodie which was fantastic, BUT we never saw the promised pies which I was looking forwards to. I'll be keeping them ready for another day as we were dribbling wrecks waiting for them. Still, it's a great place for a social night out and live music too, as well as live sport, etc...
