I will never use this garage again. Went into the office and booked my car in for an mot re test, took it in ten min before the booking to be told that they had not taken the booking.. IT WAS THE SAME GUY !! he then said he would do it anyway.. After 6 hours hanging around in -3 conditions I had to call head office to complain.. Then they done the re test.. took less than 15 min.. When I got home there was the booking conformation as well as a cancellation e mail that was done 10 min after they had done the mot ??? There was no reason for the manager to keep me hanging around all day and I have not been given a reason for this at all.. Having filed a complaint with Halfords they offered me £30 compensation.. Its all just a disgrace in my opinion.. If the manager doesn't know how to take bookings maybe he should take a course or something.. Just be aware before dealing with this tin pot garage that they are totally incompetent
Absolute disgrace. Booked online 26/01/23 to get a tyre fitted on the 01/02/23. Arrived and was told that my tyre had not arrived and was told the online booking system was a shambles. I was told to come back the next day 02/02/23 at 11am and the receptionist assured me my tyre would be here. Arrived the next day and was told again that my tyre hadn’t arrived, the receptionist had went out to the garage and looked for it and came back and said it was not here. He then asked one of the mechanics where these types of tyres are delivered from and long story short they said a week before it arrives. Yet, right beside his desk, the receptionist finds a bit of paper to confirm my tyre had actually arrived on the 30/01/23. After going back out to the garage with what appeared to be the manager, they came back and said it had actually arrived and the work could be done. Two bits of evidence to tell you the tyre was there completely missed, one of them being the tyre itself. I went back later to pick the car up and they said they couldn’t replace the spare wheel with my original tyre because they couldn’t get the locking nut off. They had changed the tyre but put the wheel back in the boot. I went home angry with my whole experience and managed to get the locking nut off with the standard ratchet provided in the boot of the car…so they clearly hadn’t even attempted to remove this. A terrible experience all round and a disgraceful lazy service, book your car into a proper garage.
My wife had a free brake test and was told that the rear pads needed changing. She booked it in for 9am the following Thursday. When I took the van in to get the brakes fitted, there was no record of the appointment and the pads had not been ordered. They did say that they could get the parts in for later in the afternoon, but as she needed her van for work, that was not acceptable to us. I then went around the corner to another well known national chain to get a quote from them and they were £52 cheaper!
Dangerously incompetent staff, our vehicle was left with them for mot and interim service, we used their booking "slots" online, pointless, they kept the vehicle the entire day until time of closing. Rushed us our mot certificate at time of closing, we have no idea if they changed oil/filter as per interim service requirements. We have complained to BMW as to why this company is licenced to work on BMW's. Ten minutes out of Oban we noticed strange vibrations, stopped to investigate, they are not even competent to close and latch your bonnet correctly. A dangerous, incompetent garage, please avoid for your safety.
Waited over 4 hours for my car to get an initial look over to see the mechanics stood about on their phones not doing anything and watching vehicles that turned up 3 hours after mine getting taken in and worked on leaving mine sat on the road. Will not use here ever again.
Have to give a 5-star review. We were trying to drive 3+ hours home when we got a flat tyre outside Oban. Not a happy prospect with two under 5s in the car! This garage said they would have it sorted in under two hours and they did. Extremely grateful for the fast service and accurate estimate.
While my wife and I were on vacation in Scotland recently we had a flat tire in Oban around 4:45 pm on Holy Saturday. Because our rental car did not come with a spare tire nor a jack, we called the Europcar 24 hour emergency number only to be told that they would not be able to send someone to repair our tire until the Monday after Easter. Upon hearing this we then started calling all of the tire repair shops in Oban only to be informed that we needed to wait until Monday morning to get our tire repaired in that every shop was closing at 5:00 pm with the exception of Halfords wherein the Manager immediately dispatched one of his employees to our vehicle to retrieve our flat fat tire, repair it in their shop, and then return the tire to us and remount it without even charging us for the tire repair. Kudos to Halfords their management and staff for taking care of people in need. I highly recommend them.
The team at Halfords in Oban were incredible when we took our car in on Friday evening bank holiday. We needed a replacement light bulb and also mentioned that our brakes were making an awful sound but we didn't manage to book a free brake test until the next morning. When we returned 30 mins later they had checked the lights and the brakes already and advised us not to drive the car. They let us keep the car in th garage overnight for free and the next day they gave us a copy of the brake test complete with photos of the problems. The car wasn't collected by the AA until the next day at 11am and all we had to pay to Halfords was £13 for the replacement light. The staff even hung around to help us talk to the AA and the tow garage to explain the issues with the car. Thank you so much for making a potential stressful situation a lot easier!
