We have been coming to Maxim for a while now, and i like to come for special occasions, they are always happy to accommodate. The food is very good, I know the owner takes pride in his recipes. Staff are attentive and they are never far away when you need something. The restaurant is beautiful and no nonsense style, the focus is on the great food. Don’t come if you are on a budget but it will be worth it if you do, I look forward to coming again for many years. All the best, Andy and Jenny.
A disappointing evening. The restaurant has a good name as the best local Chinese eatery. It was packed and full of lively conversation. The ambiance did not match the food. The waiter was attentive but not knowledgeable about the dish. Our order arrived swiftly; the chicken and corn soup was tasty while the chicken dish was bland and the pork belly overcooked. The scraps of food fallen on the table were not brushed away between courses. No one came to check how the food was. Offering a desert menu was not automatic- the banana fritters were over brittle. We felt rushed out when the bill was brought without checking if we wanted coffee.
Our restaurant doing Chinese new year on 22nd of January 2023 those who want enjoying the Lion dance can you Please Book the Table
Fantastic restaurant, always a pleasure to eat here. Really good quality food, definitely a cut above your average Chinese restaurant in London. Welcoming with a delightful atmosphere, it’s traditional and homely, making for a really lovely night out. People complaining about the prices clearly don’t know what it costs to run a high quality restaurant with fresh ingredients and efficient service, it’s not cheap but it’s excellent value.
The service was very rushed it felt as if they had overbooked customers and wanted get you out as soon as possible. Didn't give you five minutes to breathe even when you first arrived. They were hanging around our table constantly and everything just seemed rushed. Was a shame as food was good and so was atmosphereFood: 4/5
I found this restaurant very good. I think it is one or the best in this area. The service is old school. Proper and good lining on the table. Food is in smaller portion and still tasty. The location is good and in walking distance to Northfield station. The restaurant is very huge. The decor is nice and the bathrooms are clean. Food wise this is one of the best Chinese restaurant in west London suburbs. Some people have negative reviews which I don't understand. But have been to quite a few restaurants locally I think this is a restaurant for people looking for fine dining, not casual ones. I am glad I found this restaurant.
The restaurant gives a positive appeal from the outside but the interior is even better. The space is well used and uncrowded and there is considerable depth to the premises which are intelligently designed. I had the particular benefit of visiting during the Christmas period and appreciated the quality and attention to detail of the beautiful festive decor. I enjoyed the meal which, being the most important thing, was a pleasant experience and the atmosphere was pleasant. All in all a positive experience. I will most likely return again.
A disappointing evening. I came here at Xmas time and experienced wonderful, fresh dishes. However tonight was below average. The ribs had hardly any meat on unlike my first visit, and when I fedback this to the staff member he interrupted me and told me they were fine. The rice was overcooked and mushy too. The prices do not match the quality of food sadly. I spoke to the manager about my disappointment compared to my last meal and he didn't even apologise or offer a gesture of good will. We won't be returning sadly.
We used to love dining in at Maxims for a special treat. We got a takeaway though and unfortunately the rice was over cooked and soft, the other chicken dishes lacked flavour. Unsure if it’s a different chef for takeaway but it wasn’t nice. I’m put off going to dine in now too.
Genuinely the worst takeaway I've ever had. 1 - crispy shredded beef turned out to be wet soggy cold beef 2 - duck pancakes, the duck was dried out and hard, other than the fatty parts that had retained some of the moisture. Overall average, not terrible. 3 - egg FRIED rice. This is the deal breaker, how a Chinese restaurant can produce such a pathetic dish is beyond me. It was wet mushy white rice with large chunks of chopped up omlette mixed in. No wok smell, nothing was fried, no seasoning.
