After four busy days at marton mere caravan park it was time for a brief walk around marton mere nature reserve. A short walk from the caravan park it doesn't disappoint! It is a haven for bird watchers with many breeds roosting there such as the grebe bittern stonechat pochard to name but a few there are also plenty of blackberry bushes and wild apple trees to have a pick at if that's your thing
Was a little difficult finding my way to the actual reserve, a few signs would make a difference to people unfamiliar with the area however once parked up had a wonderful time taking pictures of the abundant wildlife
Love going for walks round here even in the rain you do need to be aware that there can be some very muddy areas so wellies or boots are a good idea at this time of year and of course some warm clothes. There are some hides so if you like watching birds rabbits and squirrels its great .
I was very impressed with this rich Nature Reserve and it was full of overgrown bushes, trees, flowers and grasses and weeds perfect for the UKs wildlife unfortunately this bliss was spoiled by some boys on quad bikes and other motorbikes racing around like it was a racetrack disturbing the natural environment and peoples enjoyment of the oasis.
It's our 3rd year we have stayed here. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Nice to walk round the mere. If you like a longer walk, go past the mere to Stanley Park. A nice place for a peaceful walk. It takes about 3 hours.
