Decor needs updating. Food was off-par, pie was well over-cooked with very little filling. It also failed to turn up with extra gravy as described on the menu. Chips were flavourless and of a small portion. Burger and bun were both over-cooked, particularly the bun showing and tasting burnt. Only positive note, the starter of fish and chip shop bites was really nice. Disappointing for a Marston's pub. Won't be returning.

Loved our stay here, lovely comfortable warm room, great food. Special thanks to Steve and staff for making our stay such a good experience. Would recommend to anyone visiting Brecon. Central location, good parking, dog friendly. All restaurants and shops in short walking distance and Steve happy to advise if you want to explore Brecon. Great friendly family atmosphere that makes you want to return again and again.

Fantastic staff and service. Good atmosphere in the bar and the room was great. Very clean and good facilities. Will stay again.

We all had a Sunday Roast dinner and pudding and as usual the food was delish. I always recommend The Tavern when I'm asked where to go for a decent reasonably priced meal.

The staff and especially manager Steve were great friendly and couldn't do enough for you the atmosphere was homely and welcome was warm and always made sure we had the same room when we stayed there hope Steve is there when we book again as he makes the bar a well run and friendly place to be
