Nice live music and great atmosphere here. Nice crowd present. Looks like a traditional but fancy grandma house ! The food is definitely good Russian, authentic one. A good place for friends or partiesFood: 5/5
Most authentic Russian restaurant in London. Olivier salad and vareniki were amazing. Be careful with their liqueurs unless you want to get hammered and dance to Meladze songs later. The main dining room has a Soviet pop playlist that adds to the overall nostalgic ambience. Beautiful and kitschy decor that makes you feel like you are in your babushka’s dacha. There are shelves of Russian/Soviet paraphernalia, including marinades and jams of all kinds, ornamented white tablecloths, and books.
Certainly, here's a revised and polite review with bullet points: - The ambiance of the place is very beautiful and cosy. - While the food is average, it's worth trying for the experience. - However, it's important to note that the prices are quite high.although it’s Knightsbridge
Decor and furniture reminds you of old communist Russia. or USSR. It’s extremely well made and a lot of thought put into the just about pitch perfect ambience and decor with exquisite attention to detail. The service can be a bit slow but pleasant and professional. They take the time to explain how the food is prepared and it’s a very easy going restaurant with no pressure to eat quickly and leave. Food was well prepared and hearty and healthy and authentic. The bathrooms is decked out like old communist east europe and from another era. Quite a treat.
Visited Mari Vanna for a friend's birthday and was thoroughly impressed. The ambiance was delightful, and the service was top-notch. A special shout-out to the singer who serenaded us with lovely tunes and even sang a birthday song for my friend. The food was equally impressive, capturing the essence of Russian cuisine. Highly recommend for a memorable dining experience in London.
I’ve been a customer for many years and they’ve never failed to impress. The home like feel of the restaurant is a maximalists emporium of wonder. While I do always get the same order beef stroganoff + mashed potatoes as it’s simply the best ! I have tasted other dishes my friends ordered , so I can say all round the menu is fortified and everything’s always been cooked and presented to perfection . Ideal for a date might I add as the atmosphere allows for calm conversations , happy memories and close connection. Although it is on the pricier end I think it’s reasonable for the service and food provided . P.s don’t leave without trying the honey cake . You won’t regret it . Vegetarian options: I believe they have a few options available to vegetarians , like plant based dumplings :
Very delicious, gastronomical euphoria. Service excellent, atmosphere very realistic and comfortable. Definitely recommend.Food: 5/5
I’m not sure how this restaurant is ranked so poorly on Google. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in London for the past 10 years as it offers an extraordinary decor, unique food and good service. Yes it’s Russian, yes it’s expensive but it’s one of a kind in London. We ate our usual favorites: khachapuri, beef stroganoff, pelmenis, Russian Olivier salad and a Napoleon cake for dessert. Again, it’s outrageously expensive for what is staple food in Russia; but it’s worth every penny and is by far the best Russian restaurant in London yes iv tried them all and no I’m not Russian. Russian infused vodka shots at 12£ a shot is again outrageous but delicious. We paid 176£ for two with two alcoholic drinks each. Now if you are still not convinced, then come for a drink only and to see the decoration and atmosphere as it’s worth it. During the winter, they have such nice Christmas decorations with even a Xmas tree in the downstairs room. Love it and will return. Please also note they have a few restaurants in other cities in the world. Note to restaurant: what happened to the baboushka stories being played in the toilets? And please put some heating in the toilets!
An atmospheric Russian restaurant, which could trigger some nostalgic feelings if you grew up in the 70s-90s USSR. I heard of that place from a few people and was looking forward to coming to see it in person. A friend decided to celebrate his birthday here, so it sounded like a perfect opportunity. We had a large table for 8 people. The staff was friendly and helpful. Some of them were russian speakers, others - not; everyone was polite The menu has a good variety of dishes - starters, mains, deserts, etc. The food was good, but not fantastic. Nicely presented. My well done steak was too dry. My wife's fish meatballs were uninspiring. Some wines were out of stock, so we had to settle on what was still available. We had our table reserved for 2 hours. As the time was approaching, we were reminded of that. Given the buzz about this place and their prices, I had higher expectations. Overall impression - not a place I could recommend to a good friend. All tables were occupied though, so if you plan to come - book in advance.
My visits to this restaurant left me with a sense of culinary satisfaction and a desire to return. The exceptional food, friendly staff, and delightful atmosphere all combined to create an experience that transcended a mere meal. Though it may be a tad overpriced, the overall package is undeniably remarkable. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to those seeking an elevated dining experience that delights the senses and nourishes the soul.
