I'm not one to write reviews really, however in this case I'm obliged. For Christmas my partner got me PC parts to assemble for a new rig. After putting it together it still wouldn't turn on! After troubleshooting all night and Boxing Day I thought screw it find a specialist. No one was about. So I rang Maplin, I asked if they had an engineer available to look at my PC - they did not - but the lovely chap on the phone, Tom, said to bring my computer in as he would look at it for FREE. I was elated. So partner and I drive down, Tom has a look at my computer - turns out my RAM was in the wrong slot! Doh! Quick fix and glad I built it right. Tom even installed Windows for me (my own copy). Granted Maplin was quite on Boxing Day , other customers should not expect this service - but for Tom to invite us down to double check my Xmas build was one of the kindest gestures I've received in years from a stranger - he did not want payment but I had to give him a few bob like. Honestly a stellar member of staff, I hope the Manager reads this. Tom LITERALLY saved Christmas for us - a bloody 2k spend which I thought I broke lol. As I said, I did not purchase parts there and yet he still offered help! I've written an essay, but credit where credits due - Thank you Tom. Loyal client for life now - screw Amazon - save the High Street! Peace

Tried to return some earphones purchased here as they kept falling out of my ears. Very arrogant 'assistant manager' basically (rudely) said it's not his fault my ears don't fit their headphones. He said there was no manufacturer fault. I said the call centre already told me I could return the product and had given me a return reference he said 'well if they are agreeing to take back an opened and used product I'm speaking to them first' . I explained that we are born the way we are and they were sold as a product that should fit comfortably in the ear to listen to music which they don't so they are not fit for purpose and he wasn't entertaining any of if. Called the call centre back and they were also unhelpful. In the end couldn't be bothered to argue any more with them so I have settled with the idea that im not complaining any further but won't be going back there again unless I had no other option. Surly arrogant staff and an un-accomodating returns policy. Sometimes making a small loss now and helping the customer is better for business in the long term as the customer will come back but obviously maplin just care about the quick profit now. They talk the talk on the website saying they offer astounding support but they don't walk the walk and practice what they preach. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere.

Extremely unhelpful staffI would have bought an item, had I been able to establish if it could be reversed (USB panel mount socket) whilst in-store. I asked a member of staff if it was possible to try and reverse it before I commit to buying, as I suspected it was possible. It was stocked loose in-store without any instructions. Apparently we couldn't try, nor could he be bothered to look on the website. Last time I ever use maplin for anything again! I put this on their site and it was removed.

absolutely disgusted by maplin in gloucester,, unhelpful, deceitful, even lied too,,refused to help me with an item id bought and refused to give me a refund,, now having to contact trading standards ,, and having to make a formal complaint to their head office,, wouldnt recommend maplin gloucester to anyone,, will never ever shop there again...
