The shop looked great from the outside but when we went inside it turned bad: the staff inside does not really like tourists apparently and their passive-agressive way to treat is a sign of it. Basically I was not allowed to touch anything and their way to say it was not appropriate. Too bad, they have probably lost a sale.
You can find anything you need concerning maps atlases and old sketches of paintings that depict places in different times. This place is for the people that are interested in the history and the mapping of areas that might not have enough information. I got a map for my village in Lebanon was a bit pricey but rightfully so. I definitely recommend the place for any person that likes historical maps.
This is a great shop. Staff were relaxed, they let me look through whatever stock without shadowing me. I walked away with several pieces that were originals and in excellent condition. I'll be back for sure.
The best collection of maps in London bar none. Helpful and insightful staff, i highly recommend a visit, even just to peruse
Walked in to this shop in search of some maps of Malta and as we were browsing some engravings asked if I could use the bathroom. Was told where it was and paid a visit. My partner continued to browse and unashamedly the woman overseeing the etchings department casually called her colleague downstairs and advised him to keep an eye on me. At this point we had decided to purchase two engravings that we quite liked. The same lady very curtly asked what we were looking for and I told her. She was very rude and advised us to go to the reception downstairs. I was about to return the etchings to the shelf and advised she would do them her self in a tone and attitude that indicated I would mishandle them. And this point my partner told her she need not worry as we would not damage them. It's not like they were a major piece of art or had any particular value. My partner pulled me along and said let's go...as we were headed down the stairs to see the maps my partner told.mw.what the rude woman said...we walked into the reception and immediately the colleague of the rude American woman jumped up and asked us what were after. You could tell that he was the person she spoke to. We replied and said not interested any more. I found the woman in particular to be extremely rude and condacesnding in every possible way. She was not busy and could have secured a sale. Note to the shop owner. We are both art antique collectors and we have over a dozen genuine Maltese maps and other pieces of art that we enjoy. I suggest you train your staff to get to know their clients before passing stupid ignorant comments and being downright rude.
Very knowledgeable staff and a large selection of maps.
Had a great experience choosing maps and engravings of Turkey. The two women downstairs and in the Print Gallery were exceedingly knowledgeable and helpful, a thoroughly enjoying experience
Amazing little shop! Such a wonderful collection of maps and prints. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Gave me plenty of options to choose from even though I wasn't 100% sure what I wanted to buy. Walked away with a beautiful celestial map. Will certainly be returning.
Great selection of maps along with other cool items. Really great and highly recommended! UPDATE: Just visited this charming store today December, 2022 and it didn't disappoint! They have a v good selection of maps and posters etc, and they are always very friendly!
Overpriced for the same edition of maps compared to other sellers. The website is old and no useful information about the map’s condition and price. Judging how much they charge people, they should really improve their website to make it on par with most of its competitors
