My first visit was really memorable i decided to celebrate my last day of my college at this place to see the Vivienne westwood the personal collection.
Fantastic auction house! Very welcoming and helpful. Visited as an opportunity to view Mark Knopfler's fantastic guitar and gear collection being offered on auction. Very knowledgeable team around were happy to explain details on requested item and the auction process. Definitely worth following...
Hard to judge this as what Iam about to write about is no longer there - due to be sold at auction on 31Jan24. We went up to London to see the collection as was a big 80s fan of the band. The staff are so nice and helpful. I had a long chat with the lady who put the catalogue together - she knew her stuff! I like how they had set out the guitars, allowed a close look and take loads of pics. Some places can get "sniffy" eg you cant afford this stuff true but not here, staff treated all the public as an important visitor. My only slight complaint is that they had not set up an area for visiotrs to do some "air guitar" licks! Entry was free - I always look out for auction viewings as it is a free "museum". If in London worth checking out if they have anything on show.
The Vivienne Westwood personal collection was absolutely wonderful.
Came for the Vivienne Westwood archive collection and was not disappointed. Free entry and lots of other exhibits and artwork to look at too. The Picasso porcelains are a must see.
Christie's is obviously a historic institution, one of the top auctioneers of fine art and antiquities in the world. They do a very nice job of showcasing their upcoming work, providing friendly staff, and doing so for all to see. Definitely worth a visit, especially if they have something you're interested in.
Visited the Vivienne Westwood pre auction viewing at Christies. We arrived a little early around 1030 which was a good thing as we were towards the front of the queue. Viewing started at 1100 sharp. There were some great displays of hundreds of outfits plus some accessories and related posters. A definite must for those interested in fashion.
I went to see the George Michael Exhibition before it was auctioned off for charity a worthy act from a worthy man. Pity a U.K. museum couldn’t have taken the complete collection as it was outstanding... The gallery/auction house is over several floors and occasionally in separate buildings. This isn’t stuffy and intimidating, staff are reassuring in their presence and friendly, as you would imagine, so if you ever see an ‘open house’ and would like to look at Pre-Sale art don’t hesitate you might actually end up buying something too!
A fabulous experience to visit the regular and free exhibitions at Christie’s and see artwork that is often not usually available to the public. Worth giving them a follow on Instagram to get updated on when they are showing artwork before an auction. They had a brilliant Art of the Surreal exhibition on for 3 days in March, featuring Picasso’s ‘La Fenêtre Ouverte’ the open window which was remarkable. It was also absolutely magical to see Franz Marc’s ‘The Foxes’ which was beautifully displayed, and later sold for £42.5 million. They have a maze of rooms with longer-running exhibitions and even more incredible art as well, and I am very much looking forward to seeing their current ‘Art of Literature’ collection which runs until 15th July 2022. For an avid art fan, a visit to Christie’s is a must. The staff are really great too. Sadly Christie’s is not open on weekends.
On 24/9/18 I was lucky to visit an exhibition to was an absolute delight for me. I am a huge fan of Audrey Hepburn. I have all books about her and any picture of image I see somewhere it does make my heart warm. I am so grateful to Christie's London to oragnise this free view of Audrey Hepburn outfit collection. Absolutely stunning interiors and collection.
