Yes, the rooms need updating, yes this beautiful building needs a lot of love BUT our room 15 was spotless, huge and lovely and warm on a very cold January night. Yes, it needs a serious refurb but the good points outweigh the not so good. The jewel in the crown has to be the warm welcome we received from the lady on the reception desk and the general positive attitude of all the staff. Seriously guys, make the investment urgently needed, charge more and make this hotel THE place to stay to explore Somerset.
I went to a function here so I have not rated the rooms. The staff were exceptionally helpful and polite. The bar seemed very reasonable priced for tea's and coffees. The bar area was comfortable and quiet to sit in on a mid week mid morning.
We visited for a manager’s meal with a group of five. The highlight of the evening was our server, she did a brilliant job looking after around ten tables all by herself. Her service was attentive and hardworking, and she truly did the best she could.nnUnfortunately, the overall food service was quite disappointing. We arrived around 6pm and weren’t seated for about 10 minutes. Our drinks and order were taken promptly, but the wait times that followed were far too long. Starters took around 10–15 minutes, mains arrived roughly 30 minutes after that, and dessert was delayed to the point where we had to cancel it entirely. We waited around 45 minutes for two desserts, the Bramley Apple and Blackcurrant Crumble Pie and the Vegan Caramelised Biscuit Cheesecake, before deciding to leave.nnWe ended up leaving around 8:30pm without dessert due to the delays and dissatisfaction. Only after the meal were we told there was a large group booking, likely a Christmas party, which seemed to cause the long wait times. This really felt like poor management and understaffing, especially during such a busy season.nnOverall, The Manor felt very overrated compared to how much it’s talked about. Based on this experience, I’m not sure I would return or recommend it to others.nA big thank you to the server who did an amazing job under pressure, she was the best part of the visit.
Stayed for 1 night as visiting family. Had a downstairs room as had our dog with us.nYes the rooms are a bit dated and could do with a makeover but that costs money and time which cannot always fit in.nThe main part of the building was clean, tidy and very welcoming. The staff were excellent and very helpful. We had an evening meal which was perfect and a breakfast which was also great quality and catered for my food intolerance. Would recommend or stay again if needed to.
This old hotel is in need of some TLC, it's starting to show its age. A large carpark has plenty of spaces, but given passing customs can park their to can limit your options. The room was large enough, we were given a twin, two comfortable beds with enough storage and desk area, the bathroom had a bath and shower over and was big enough.nThe room was clean if dated, very warm had to turn the radiator down. You can access the restaurant and reception without going outside, but some of the stairs are bit challenging. Breakfast was served each morning, and we couldn't have had two completely different experiences, day one it took 25 minutes for cooked food to be brought out, over cooked and cold, day two 10 minutes fress and very nice. There is also a good spread of other options available. We ate in the restaurant one evening and the service was great and the food was very tasty. All in all yes I would stay here again, I'm just not sure Yeovil has enough to draw me back.
