This is one of the best pubs I've been in for a long time. There were four of us and we visited on Sunday 11 may 2014. We experienced a warm, friendly atmosphere as soon as we walked in through the front door. There are several locations within the inn you can sit and on brighter days you can sit outside. We ordered some drinks and some food. The food arrived at our table promptly, was piping hot and delicious - the chef obviously takes a lot of pride in what he cooks. The excellent quality and large portions we received were at a very reasonable price. All the staff we met were very friendly and made us feel most welcome. One thing I found most interesting is the vast collection of miniature sheep everywhere you look and there's a painting by J Farquharson hanging on the wall called, "The Shortening Winter's Day". The view outside is breathtaking and you can enjoy the stunning beauty which stretches for many miles. I am very much looking forward to my next visit and would highly recommend this inn.
Great pub. Had a meal and a few beers after finishing the second day of the Pennine Way trail last year. The owners let me put up my tent in the garden as stated in the guide. Would definitely stop here again.
