On my way to my digs in Manchester I get to pass where my show “Dirty Dancing” will be at The Palace Theatre this week. Beautiful buildings here! This city holds special memories for me as I met my future wife in “Phantom of the Opera” in Manchester in The Opera House. I was the Phantom and Manchester was voted The City of Drama for that year. Extraordinary experiences in 94’! A few years later I would arrive again to perform at The Palace Theatre, where I starred in “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” with my small son in tow. This city has grown from strength to strength. The architecture is stunning. Yet, you can still glimpse its history of being a mercantile giant for the country.
I love this place. A while since I have been. It’s a young, trendy , vibrate, diverse ,accessible city that feels welcoming to all. I admit I’m old 64 but young at heart - walking around gave me a chilled. Relaxed feel that had me smiling all the while , with people who caught my eye smiling back. Kind of infectious. The choice of food in the city centre in incredible, the trams and free buses great, the outdoor seating and screens superb. Thank you Manchester City Council - you have done a great job. If I had to move to another Uk city currently live in Brighton it would be top of my list.
