This delightful country pub has wooden beams, open fires, and flagstone floors that give it a wonderfully inviting feel with fantastic outdoor areas.

Story

Classic family pub and restaurant in idyllic canal side settings with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Serving food in a relaxed atmosphere or just drinks if you fancy. We welcome the dog walkers amongst you water and dog treats provided for that special canine. Kids and families welcome at all times and fantastic hotel services provided by the Premier Inn right next door. Can cater for large parties booked in advance and we provide a friendly and relaxed service.

Had a very enjoyable drink and meal for four of us. We arrived early and were shown to our table and had a drink whilst we waited for the rest of our party. The waiter was great. No problem with us waiting. When we all there we were served quickly and efficiently. Had a three course meal and drinks. The waiting staff were very intentive with our order. Food was great. Served quickly and the food was hot and tasty. Will definitely be returning there when I'm over there again.

Lovely setting on a canal bank not far from Junction 8 of the M61 motorway. Popular with locals and handy for those staying at the Premier Inn next door. Pleasant decor, friendly welcome, decent food and drink; we had a really relaxing visit and wouldn't hesitate to go again

Great food and friendly staff, even when really busy. Reasonably priced and wonderful surroundings too, being right next to the river/canal. Dogs are welcome with treats on the mantel piece, water bowls around the place inside and out - they even do a Sunday dinner for dogs!

Six of us ate at The Malthouse last night (Friday) and were not disappointed. My partner and I like to go there as often as we can and this time, as we had family staying with us for the weekend, we decided to take them there for a meal. The food was excellent, as always, and fab value for money. The atmosphere was superb. Everyone in our party had a great time and really enjoyed themselves. Also, I would like to mention the fantastic staff. We always feel looked after when we go there and they are all so friendly and warm. This includes the lovely Turkish gentleman who always chats away to us, the friendly lady setting tables who I think is the manageress, plus the lovely girls who waited on our table. Also, the bar staff who served us when we first arrived deserve a mention. The cheerful young bearded man in particular was very friendly and made us feel welcome from the start. All in all a very pleasant evening. Thank you.

I was hosting at an exhibiton in a nearby events hall and arrived early. The sun was out and it was a beautiful setting to have a pint and a lunch besides the canal. Service good, Food was great. Cant ask for much more than that!
