The place is a short walk from Bayswater tube station. Good food Malaysian at a very reasonable price, with the finest Malaysian hospitality! Great service, will definitely visit again! We had nasi campur, nasi lemak and roti canai. The roti canai and dhal with a dash of sambal bilis was particularly good. They had an array of kuehs - so we had some takeaway. Air bandung is a must try!
This place makes you feel like home! Their mi rebus is my favourite - at £5.50 per bowl it’s such a bargain! I love their teh tarik and nasi lemak too. Their traditional kuih and sweet delicacies are amazing - almost every single of them will make u smile because they’re genuinely so good! It’s unfortunate that their don’t offer card payments but I hope they will do this soon due to covid.
I went here two Sundays ago and I was allowed to go in and nobody asked me if I am a Malaysian. They had good safety protocols. I was overwhelmed by the food selections for Nasi Campur so I enquired and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. I had Nasi Campur with 3 dishes: squid red curry, chicken curry and aubergine. These were sublime recommendations washed down with Teh Tahrik. I had some take away of glutinous rice sweets, Nasi Kerabu and Roti Canai. My overall experience was so excellent with staff being so friendly, showing ultimate Malaysian hospitality, that I started raving about this little gem of Malay food to friends to try. However I came back this Sunday with a friend and we were turned away because the canteen was only for Malaysians and we should be accompanied by Malaysians. Since I was raving about it the week before, we were really looking forward to having a Malaysian feast. The lady behind behind the desk was polite but I hope they make it clear here or put a sign on the door about this policy. It was simply embarrassing. I would not want this to happen to other non Malaysians who would try to venture here and experience the same embarrassment. I will not lower my rating fo this place despite this recent incident. I maintain their food is really good and the hospitality by the canteen staff is very heartwarming. This alone Malaysians should be proud of.
Really nice authentic Malaysian restaurant serving authentic Malay food. Came for the kerabu that is served every Sunday and also the Mee Rebus special. Very delicious indeed and also spicy. Nice selection of dessert kuih to select from.
Third time in London now and every visit feels incomplete without coming to eat here. It always makes me feel as if I'm in Malaysia. There aren't many malaysian restaurants in Germany, so this is the best place for me to fulfill my cravings. Love the kuih choices and the catfish dish is awesome too. Oh and the teh tarik, you shouldn't miss it.
I give it a solid 3.5 star on flavor but options aren't the widest. More tailor to the Malay cuisine. Price is decent. Very Basic decor canteen style place. Order and pick up food yourself, and clean up your own dishes. Not particularly sure if anyone clean the table once in a whilst. Food was tasty enough. Unfortunately the lemongrass curry I wanted didn't have enough to do a full serving, they wouldn't let me order that and mix in a bit of something. So it was disappoint. Got the next red curry lamb and it was ok. I wasn't whelmed. Keow Teo noodles was flavorful and have enough ingredient. The kuih/pastry. Some was good. The fried stuff been been sitting out for too long so wasn't as good. I realize now. The precook dishes wasn't kept warm which I assume isn't up to some health code. But no problem with tummy after eating it. Service for ala carte order was very fast. It wasn't a busy hour at around 7.30pm. Some of the precook curry was already sold out. The tea Tarik was pre-made. Free water and the red is color flavor drinks.
Nice authentic food and good value for money. Food is pre made and you order at the counter and find whatever seats available. The squid, fish and chicken drumsticks I had were all good. There was a £5 set with drumstick and rice but the green rice was not to our taste.
Came here two days in a row for vegetarian meals. Very well cooked- so delicious! We tried a few other Malaysian restaurants but this place is 100% authentic and tasted great for vegetarian Malaysian food!
Great tasty Malaysian cuisine with a homely atmosphere. Only Malaysians allowed unless you come as a guest with one. We had some nasi campur, nasi lemak and some cakes with teh tarik. All sumptious and well recommended
Decent Malaysian food in London UK. I think it is high time for Malaysian Government to re-vamp this avenue. Dont become like the Malaysia Kitchen. Remove the 'canteen' feel. Re-vamp the interior of the canteen make it more a bit of a cafe or restaurant type feel. No doubt the place is too small located in the basement wonder how the exit plan when hazards happen. This place has potential to bloom as the food were pretty much decent taste; can feel the authentic Malaysian food. Decent spread and choice of food. Staff were friendly. Somehow i do feel the price is a bit on the higher side. Add in some air ventilation feel bit stuffy. And... During my visit on near mid June: the Malaysia Hall was having their Raya Get together. It seems to be 'closed event' which is not opened to outsider syok sendiri program. This is not cool as they should open the program to visitor aspecially Muslim Malay abroad in London/UK. It is a waste of Government money for syok sendiri event. The personnel at the entrance just say to us and directed us "canteen below": as if the event is not event there. This raya event could be an invite for outsider and Malaysian abroad to feel homey. Thats how they can promote Malaysia thru food and culture just like what they planned in the Malaysia Kitchen Program.
