Expensive but the food was good. Malaysian food is mostly rice and noodles but this was good ingredients prepared very well. The fried dumplings starter was excellent. Just too expensive overall as drinks were very expensive. We were strapped to a two hour slot and rushed out before we had finished our drinks. I doubt we would return just because of the prices for typical Malaysian food. Parking near the restaurant was impossible we drove around for ages.
One of the best restaurants in Essex.nFood is always cooked and presented to perfection.nThe set price tasting menus give an authentic taste of Malaysia and the chance to try a variety of new dishes.
We went on Saturday afternoon and had the lunch deal. The roti canai, honey wings, mee goreng, sea spice aubergine and malacca hot beef were some of the dishes we ordered. Service was great and so was the food.nHave had takeaways from here in the past, including the beef rendang which is excellent. Would recommend honey wings and mee goreng as well.
By the time we left this place was full, on a Wednesday. Super attentive service throughout the course of the meal, nice decor making a cosy atmosphere, even the bathroom was spacious and fancy. And the food was exciting, flavourful and delightful.
Ordered a takeaway from Malaya and I was very impressed with the food. All packaged nice and securely, all arrived hot and ready to eat.nnOnly questionable dish for me was the Pork Dumplings served with a vinegar dip. The vinegar dip was made using malt vinegar which I wasn’t expecting.nnAll in all though, food very lovely. I highly recommend the Beef Rendang
