We arrived at Swanage Sunday April the 26 th for a weeks holiday and were unsure about how to buy a week long parking ticket as it doesn’t give you the option on the parking machine so seeing the parking attendant we asked his advice, now normally when speaking to someone it’s all sucking air through teeth and I don’t know about that etc but not this time the very nice and pleasant chap in charge couldn’t have been more helpful showing us how to do this via a just parking app which being 66 I had never heard of before, this couldn’t have been easier giving us week long parking at all of swanages long stay car parks. Added to that there was a fantastic classic car show in the car park!. Brilliant and thanks to that man!. The human side of officialdom
Well signposted car park with plenty of spaces. 5 minutes walk to the beachfront. Not much security seen around.nnIf you’re using EE network the coverage is very bad especially at the beachfront area and coastline. Recommend to plan trip and where to go beforehand.nn£6.45 for 4 hours.nnMale toilets had a horrible stench. They are seen by staff that are parked beside these. Female toilets were apparently very clean. Toilets not well aerated and needs at least a fan.
This place was great for parking but there were issues with the pay machine that did make it harder to get a ticket!
I have now used 2 car parks Main Beach and Mermond Place in Swanage run by the local Council and I am not impressed. Both car parks are chargeable until 9pm but neither has any lighting it gets dark well before then at this time of year October and it is nigh on impossible to even see where the ticket machines are let alone try and use them in the dark. Also, the charges are too high given the lack of lighting. At least the parking bays are well painted, hence 2 stars. I couldn't add any photos 'cos it was too dark.
Good place to park for the beach, town center and the heritage railway.
