Could spend a fortune here. Great range of fresh fruit and veg, butchers, wine shop, bread, cheese and much more. And a great cafe, lovely food and friendly staff. Well worth a visit and wish I lived nearer.
I really enjoy this huge farm shop that I always insist on visiting when down here seeing friends. Fantastic range of goods and specialty produce from all over Kent. The vegetable range is stunning and I love a suggested seasonal recipe so wild garlic quiche was made. The butchers is amazing and all locally sourced meat, the deli is packed with locally made cheese, chilli goats cheese being my absolute favourite. Add to that the assortment of plants for sale outside and a cafe, you could easily spend a few hours here, it’s just a delight! A lot more reasonable than you’d expect also! I’ll be back again and again!
Always a terrific visit. Amazing produce, beautifully presented and has everything from fresh vegetables, meat, chutneys, pickles, jams and beers too. Plus a lovely cafe too
Popped into Macknade this morning with my daughter as a treat. We both chose the last two almond croissants despite them being very dark in colour as I told my daughter they will probably discount them at the till because of their appearance! We purchased some other food bits then at the till I asked politely if the croissants could be discounted a little, particularly as they were expensive. The cashier looked at her colleague next to her and the other old woman wearing a beret and glasses just laughed at me and sarcastically said “No of course not”! I mentioned that they were particularly burnt and I expect high quality for the price and she just replied “ I don’t know what colour they are supposed to be!! My jaw literally hit the floor and I felt very humiliated. They should both be ashamed of themselves and learn some customer service. Rude, rude rude!!
Lovely staff. Great variety of produce I would normally have to travel to London Borough Market to buy. Reasonable price for different goats cheese.
We visited on a Thursday around 12. The service was good but once ordering was told there was a 10 minute wait for coffee but our food would come after our drinks. This didn't end up being the case and we had almost finished our food when our drinks eventually came. We had scrambled egg on toast and we did really enjoy it. You're paying for quality and you do certainly get that. Will probably come again in the future.
A wonderful place, that we’re lucky to have nearby. I don’t buy an awful lot from Macknade as the prices are a bit high for me, but there are some items I go there specifically for as I can’t find them anywhere else locally. Am always very impressed with how the staff are so welcoming and friendly, and always greet customers pleasantly, helping in any way they can. On weekends and leading up to Bank holidays it can get really busy, but the till staff always stay calm and courteous even though they are under a lot of pressure with long queues of customers.
There not much you can’t buy here. Good quality local produce, nice restaurant parking can sometimes be a problem as very busy place. There are disabled bays By the Macknade Food Hall Signs .
I love this place. Delicious food including Mediterranean specialities you can't get in the supermarket. A lovely feel about the place too and they do cute events for kids. Love it. After visiting I made this Caponata and these incredible meringues.
Where do you start with the praise! What a fantastic local market store and more all in one place. The range and choice of all the fruits, vegetables and artisan items is absolutely fantastic and it’s lovely to be able to come to places like this and buy items that are simply unavailable anywhere else in either large supermarkets or small shops. There is a section for everything from wine store to charcuterie. There’s a good choice of Vegan and Plant Based foods though IMO these could be labelled in a much better manner than they currently are. The only negative is the odd item found in supermarkets that’s quite a lot more than the others sell it at sorry but it’s honest. The food area is absolutely fantastic with a great choice of food and drinks as well as live music on a Friday from 6pm. All in all, an excellent store that seems to be growing and going from strength to strength.
