Elmer Court hosted a large birthday party in April 2024, which was absolutely superb. The welcome was friendly and the room light and airy for musicians to gather and play, as part of the celebration. The manager Mark, and all the staff were very professional and we experienced service of a high quality. The afternoon tea was delicious with a good variety of sandwiches, scones and cakes, including some for those with dietary issues. A lovely location, with plenty of hotel parking space. I would highly recommend this venue. Noteworthy details: The hotel is very well maintained with historic decor but modern comforts.
Came for a spa day for 2 on a beautiful spring day at this lovely location in the New Forest. Was slightly apprehensive after reading some of the previous reviews, but as with most things they don't reflect the reality. The staff were friendly and helpful, the treatments were relaxing and enjoyable, the pool, sauna, and steam room were all exactly as you'd expect. Changing rooms a little tired but that hardly shaped the experience. Afternoon tea was tasty and sufficient, nothing to write home about but all in all a good value day out. We had plenty of space and peace and quiet to relax on a sunny Saturday on a Bank Holiday weekend with a wedding happening at the Manor House so I'm not sure what any of the complaints were about! Nice that it's a place that welcomes families with young kids
Stunning wedding venue. We were guests, the setting is beautiful. Lots of staff, all willing to help. Food delicious and attention to detail perfect. Didn't give 5 stars as we didn't stay, so couldn't comment on rooms, although heard guest say they were a bit disappointed not to be located in the old part of the hotel but in newer apartments away from the historic hotel.
Great overnight spa break. Nice big room, lovely treatments, beautiful relaxation room. Allowance towards dinner. Extremely good value. Changing rooms and bedrooms perhaps a little tired, but a fabulous location and a bargain when two spa treatments were included.Rooms: 4/5
This was a good experience. We came to Elmers Court in November. The rooms were spacious, and generally well stocked. They looked a little tired and not very well ventilated leading to quite bit of condensation, but we had what we needed in terms of plates, cups, cutlery etc. Any major issues with the room were quickly sorted out. The spa is fantastic, it has a whirlpool, sauna and steam room. The pool is also very pleasant and the gym is well stocked, modern and clean. There is also a squash court which was a lot of fun to use. The spa treatments are very good - I’d recommend going for a back and shoulder massage. Separately, we had afternoon tea which was great. The scones were very delicious and there was a good selection of tea. Check in and check out were relatively easy, but just be aware that for certain rooms you may need to pay the electricity cost at the end of the stay. The location is great, in the middle of the beautiful New Forest and there are lots of walking and cycle tracks nearby, along with loads of lovely towns. It’s also very close to the ferry port that takes you to the Isle of Wight. Overall, we’d definitely come back here and we were especially impressed by the friendliness and efficiency of the staff.
Visited Elmer’s Court Lymington for a friend’s 80th birthday party. We played some acoustic music in “the music room” - beautiful, authentic decoration. Staff were cheerful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Buffet food was plentiful and delicious, gluten-free food also available. Enjoyed breakfast the following morning - hot buffet, pastries, good coffee. Lovely grounds, overlooking the river Lym. Children’s play area. Nearby activities: Hotel is very close to ferry to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. Lymington Quay for crabbing and watching the boats. Market in High Street on Saturday mornings. Great charity shops. Bird-watching on Normandy Marshes.
An overall disappointing visit. Our initial apartment was incredibly dated with worn peeling beige textured wallpaper on both the walls and ceiling. The apartment was incredibly over-heated though I understand that this is a personal preference. Cobwebs and large amounts of dust were evident on the lighting and in varying other places around the apartment alongside yellowing electrical fittings. The kitchen was functional though very dated. The fridge was a struggle to open as it was poorly fitted against the dishwasher, the kitchen bin was also oddly situated in a bizarre cupboard. The downstairs bathroom was fine aside from a very worn bath bottom. The upstairs bathroom had rather dangerous cracked tiles on the floor and worn walls. As we were travelling with a 4 year old it was disappointing to find sharp red plastic shards on the floor of the balcony alongside finding every child lock on the windows were broken and not functional. This was a particularly worrying safety concern of ours as we were on the first floor and not something that we would have expected from Macdonald Hotels. After filing a complaint and a meeting with the hospitality manager, we were offered a change of room which was welcomed. This was a slight improvement however again we were left disappointed as no bedding was made up for our child, something that I assumed would have been provided however something that we are not below doing ourselves. Bare uncapped fire alarm electrics were on show in the corridor alongside poor finishing of the fitting of said alarm in the apartment. On check out no mention of how our stay was given, which seemed incredibly poor service. This stay has made us lose confidence in the Macdonald Hotel brand and we will not be rushing to return to the brands hotels. On a positive all the staff we encountered were friendly and pleasant. The pool facility was functional and warm. Rooms: Dated rooms Safety: Poor child safety
5 star based on value. People crying in the reviews expecting a 5* hotel with a luxury spa but you get what you pay for. For the price I am very happy and all the staff have been lovely, especially John the Barman. Spa was pretty basic but still enjoyable. Biggest negative was the cheap ketchup sachets they were proper disgusting & undercooked chips. Fish good.
Spacious and clean room with good facilities. Staff very friendly. Food choice rather uninspiring, overpriced and portions on the small side. We were there primarily to use the spa facilities which looked tired. Pool was grubby and floor on entering the pool was very slippery. An added irritation at breakfast was that some items carried a supplement when given the price of the stay . .should in my opinion have been included in the B&B rate.
I was surprised at some of the poor reviews but it seems they are all for spa days. We came with two young kids and it was fantastic, had everything we needed. Great two bedroom apartment with kitchen, tennis courts, kids park area, indoor swimming pool. Brilliant 2 night stay and the kids loved it, we'll be back! Some parts of the rooms and hotel are a bit tired but for the amount you pay I think its an absolute bargain. Rooms: A bit tired in places but absolutely fine for what we needed. Food & drinks: Good food. Probably not quite worth the prices but we only had takeaway, perhaps sitting in the restaurant would have been better.
