Room was spacious and comfortable as long as you stayed on one side of the bed. The curtains didn’t do a lot to block out the light at night and early in the morning. Bathroom was fine but a bit dated. The still and sparkling water taps in the corridor were a nice touch. The staff at dinner were very friendly and accommodating and the food was nice. Would recommend the haggis bonbons. Breakfast was included and was fairly standard. Rooms: Room was spacious. Bed was two single beds together which usually isn’t an issue but the divide was quite stark between the two beds Food & drinks: Food was good in the evening and at breakfast.
Was here for a wedding, the place is in need of major TLC. The hallways, rooms, bar and lift need refurbishment. Rooms are spacious and clean, bed was comfy enough. Food from the restaurant was average and was just a bit underwhelmed at the fact its branded as a spa hotel. The pool was nice but closes too early if you wanted to go a swim after dinner.
Lovely, older style hotel. It has lost a bit of its finest but still a nice overnight and spa. Great pool and sauna was nice but steam room kept breaking down. We had an overnight with DBB, the dinner was really tasty but very pricey even with the 30 per person allowance. Breakfast was great, good produce, well made and for a buffet it actually felt like a lot or care had been taken.
Hotel decor and hallways are dated. Rooms are spacious and beds are comfy. Spa, pool and gym all excellent. Room not properly cleaned, glasses dirty and bathroom had hair from previous occupant. Breakfast was good.Rooms: 2/5
Could not fault anything about this hotel or our stay at all. My friend and I were accommodated at the very last minute after our booking at another hotel had fallen through. Everything from the decent-sized, spotless hotel room, to the accommodating staff, to the food were all brilliant. Strongly recommended.Rooms: 5/5
Overall a lovely hotel and great wedding venue. I would say the room I was in was a little dated, but was spacious, clean and beds were comfy. Staff were lovely and helpful, slow bar staff though, getting a drink can be slightly painful. Prices are to be expected, not cheap but not astronomical, expected hotel prices. To sum up, 4 stars, would have been 5 if rooms were updated and staff were a bit quicker with the service.
Absolutely fantastic hotel. Amazing food. Staff were honestly outstanding, nothing was a bother & they went above & beyond for our 2 night stay. Every single one we met was exceptionally friendly & cheery. Food was utterly outstanding. Pool was lush & cozy which is rare in a hotel. Surroundings were relaxing and pretty. Excellent value for money & will 100% be returning. Fantastic Fabulous. Rooms: Lovely big spacious room. Spotlessly clean & cozy. Food & drinks: Food was outstanding.
Been before but came today for a wedding and bed, excellent venue with a great large hall and outdoor areas to filter into. As for Hotel rooms they are clean and traditional with good a/v and wifi throughout the extensive and maintained grounds. However midges are a big issue, obviously this is season dependent but added with the Windows that don't fully close and it becomes an issue. However food and service more than makes up for it and there are electric charges coming soon, so traveling up in your own car is becoming easier
Overall, our stay was fine. The good: The Spa was really good both thr staff and the treatments. Food was quite nice. Rooms: while dated, they were clean. The bad: The bar called The Cocktail Bar, only serves 4 or 5 cocktails on the menu. But on a Saturday night, none were available. The dining area: we had dinner in the hotel on the Saturday night. But no music was playing even just quiet dining music meaning the area was quiet and there was absolutely zero atmosphere. Alongside the lack of drinks, we ended up just going to bed early which was disappointing. Likewise, many drinks on the menu from Guinness to whisky were unavailable. Bar staff was indifferent and he wasn't particularly courteous. Wifi - the wifi is awful. Pretty much zero signal in our room. Overall, the hotel needs a revamp. It is dated and much in terms of walls, furniture and fixtures etc are damaged or broken. This really makes it look dated but not in a good way.
Went for a spa weekend. Was greeted by the reception at the spa being rude and quite frankly condescending. My booking times on my email confirmation were not the same as what the hotel had. Spa treatments were amazing and spa facilities such as pool sauna etc v good. Service through out the stay was not good, the restaurant didn’t have a good ambiance and service was poor, asked for three different drinks which all were not available. Several small issues such as a butter knife with a stake, and milk at breakfast served in a gravy dish? Several touches were missed and for the price payed level of service did not match.
