I started shopping here as I wanted a better and cleaner experience with nicer staff when shopping. And that’s what I have gotten. Great food, brilliant layout, shame there is always one that has to ruin it. A staff member on the Sunday shift is letting the side down. Rude and unprofessional. So avoid Sundays if possible.
Loved it in here. A well stocked store with pretty much everything. They offer trolleys so you can do a weekly shop. Bakery, flowers, click and collect etc.
This morning I went to the M&S store in St.Annes it was very busy. There were no available trolleys next to the store so I had to cross the car park and retrieve one from a trolley bay. I have spinal stenosis and am in pain so that was not a good start. I went to the in store bakery to get some crostini. They were being cooked and the one person on the bakery counter said they would be ready in just over 10 minutes. I went to do further shopping and returned to see the woman taking them out of the oven. I asked when they would be ready she said a further 15 minutes to cool. Having waited this long I pottered about for 15 minutes and went back to the counter to be told the member of staff had gone to lunch. There were 3 or 4 staff members about but apparently none had a food hygiene certificate so were unable to bag up the crostini I had now waited 35 minutes for. If the woman behind the counter had used her communication skills to tell me initially it would be an hour before the product would be available for me to buy I would not have stood around in pain for 35 minutes and I don’t believe for one minute no other staff in the store could go behind the bakery counter to sell me the goods. The manager was useless and although he apologised could not sell me the product I had been looking at in the store for 20 minutes and was now in severe pain. I expect better from M&S very poor customer service.
Nice shop with good quality products and friendly, helpful staff. Don't be a tall man wearing jeans and a hoody though unless you like being not so subtly followed around the shop by the security guard - even if you are a regular customer with no criminal record whatsoever...
