Best to go during summer but spectacular views all round the year
I am a regular visitor to Lurgan Park, and you never get tired of the stunning views of nature at its best. There are plenty of pleasant walks that cater to all ages. While the toilet facilities could be improved, I understand the Council's reluctance to update them due to the disgraceful vandalism. Even with my grievances about the public toilets, I would highly recommend this park.
As far as parks go Lurgan Park is among the United Kingdom's higher echelon. It really is rather special, certainly the best in Northern Ireland in my opinion and it's particularly well maintained too. Fantastic for families with young children, as aside from the picturesque setting, there is a children's playground. There's also a lake that is home to numerous wild birds including swans, geese and ducks. Squirrels can be spotted going about their business in and around the trees. Park is welcoming for those with dogs. Lovely place for a jog or just a leisurely walk. Easy to find as it's so close to Lurgan main Street.
Great park to come and visit on a good day. Lots of people doing all sorts of activities; walking, cycling, bowls, football, cricket, picnics, playpark, fountain with no water, food vans coffee/ice-cream toilet facilities etc ... clean, tidy park, with a Castle right next to it. Parking can be tricky. Best place to park is by the Baptist Church.
Beautiful, well kept park. I go very early in the morning and the views are breathtaking.nEven though there are quite a few people and their pets about, it's so big that you feel as if you are on your ownnNo dog poo in sight which is a big relief.
