This is a really nice circular walk, lots to see for the children. There are many tree carvings of animals and fairy houses loads to see here. With standing stones a totem pole. The kids won't be board. The parking here is excellent as well as the paths.

The pathways and general area are well maintained, although there is still a chance that you'll get your feet muddy now and again due to inclement weather. Water voles and Kingfishers form part of the local wildlife. There are plenty of interesting wood carvings (including a totem pole) dotted throughout the site, together with a few information boards. One of the latter includes a description of the long gone Hindley South railway station that stood on part of the reserve. Altogether a nice place to go for a stroll, nature ramble, or a picnic, (weather permitting, of course), and young children should find at least something to interest them.

Good to see this once postindustrial wasteland being reclaimed by nature, for all to enjoy.

what a lovely place. A lovely lake with plenty of wildlife to see, a haven for birds in the water and in the surrounding trees etc. Children were pond dipping and really enjoying themselves (just the right time of the year for tadpoles etc.) Good signage and a couple of wood carvings here and there for kids to look out for on the trees. It is easy walking with flat paths and plenty of benches around to sit and rest or admire the view.We saw quite a few dog walkers all very friendly. We have had a lovely morning and will go there again soon.
