The ‘valuers’ don’t know what they’re doing and don’t know how to value properly. I bought a photograph recently that was valued at £350 by Lots rd. I found the exact same thing on the internet for £69 a day later! Bought and sold a lot in past years but won’t be using Lots rd going forward. There are better auction houses!
Lots Road Auction's is on two floors: on the ground level you can find old and bulky furniture tables, libraries, etc., mainly from the 19th and early 20th century, as well as relatively recent second-hand furniture many sofas, garden furniture, curtains, chandeliers, chairs, dining tables, etc. On the other hand, the first floor is where you will find the older stuff, carpets and more valuable antiques paintings, engravings, overmantels, etc. Most second-hand modern furniture on the ground level is not exciting, nor particularly appealing you could find similar used furniture in the many flea markets in London.... On the first floor you can definitely find more unusual and interesting items, worth bidding for. On average, items on sale are usually auctioned at fairly acceptable prices, provided that you don't commit the mistake to overpay something in the bidding frenzy! For those who like to browse through old things in antique fairs or flea markets, I strongly suggest to pay a visit to Lots Road Auction.
Two stars offered. One for poor customer relations, arrogant valuation team who show no enthusiasm or interest. The other star for working so hard to support the first. Bravo chaps. I'm sure the owners love reading these negative reviews.
Great place and definitely worth a visit. Staff very friendly and helpful, auctions relaxed and fun. Nice day out!
Worst Ever Auction Experience in the UK. Stay away from them!!! One Star is too much!!!! -------------------------------------------minus on every aspect!
Customer service is still very much lacking. Also, Lost road use to be good, but this year I realised that some of the stuff they are auctioning are items you can purchase currently on wayfair...Before you buy anything please do a google image search on the items to save you time and money.
The front office staff sitting behind a glass panel on the ground floor are rude and unhelpful. Do check the lot in-person before bidding as the online description does not provide an accurate or complete representation of the actual condition or dimensions of the lot.
Wonderful interesting place it's like a aladdin's Cavan
Terrible receptionist. No response via email, when I called to collect the items I had paid for I got an earful from her even though we are in a pandemic. Not crazy for me wanting to know whether I need to book in advance. Awful customer service. Should probably find somebody better at all forms of communication considering that's their job. Other than that, Lots Road always has fantastic items.
Excellent service from Maurene and Tatiana. Polite and efficient
