The good - lovely helpful staff on reception and in cafe, good swimming pool. The rest - Oh dear! Long Ashes has a serious problem with housekeeping and maintenance. We had booked 3 nights with our grandchildren in a lodge. We arrived to a cold, dirty lodge smelling of mold. Dirty and cobwebbed windows, veranda unswept with dirt and bird droppings, dirty floor, insufficient and mismatched crockery and cutlery, and more, too much to list here. We insisted on alternative accommodation for the remaining 2 nights. That was much newer and good but still showing maintenance neglect. On leaving we calculated what we thought would be a fair charge bearing mind the inconvenience, distress and lost time. The reception staff were understanding but the manager was not. In the end the reception staff accepted the reasonableness of our offer and we paid and left. We won’t be back!
Fantastic spa day with friends. Lunch was excellent as were the spa treatments.
Really nice campsite with very clean toilets and showers. The pool and jacuzzi in the leisure club are nice and limited slots mean it's not too busy. The food from the cafe is quite basic but tasty enough.Service: 4/5
This review pertains to the Camping and Motorhome club site . Brilliant site. Excellent staff, pitches and bus service. The facilities are immacuiately clean and plentiful. Grassington is walkable, though there is a very convenient bus service from the site for those who require it. Skipton and places further afield are easily accessed, too, by bus.
Lovely park, beautifully kept with a great layout and overall clean fabulous and is in a great location. The downside for us was £10 each to go into the swimming pool as we where family visiting and the baby change was out of service, this wasn't mentioned when we went in, i had to put my baby on her pushchair and get it all wet to change her as the floor was freezing and the seating wasnt safe enough for me to do it without her rolling or getting a leg stuck. The changing rooms for the pool desperately need updating. The lady on reception was quite brash when we where paying, not sure if she was just having a bad day but she also spoke over her colleague.
Stayed in one of the family rooms above the pub which was very clean, modern and comfortable except for the bathroom. An working extractor fan would be good as family of 4 things got a little steamed up in there and the windows in the room are in need of some maintenance too. Apart from that really nice helpful staff, great leisure club and lovely food served in the pub restaurant. Would recommend for a short family or couples break although some of the on-site gammon in the bar area tend to think they own the place.
Booked a massage for my wife and a meal for both of us afterwards. Wife got a phone call 2 hours before her appointment to tell her it was cancelled. Shoddy. Obviously we cancelled our meal booking. Would leave no stars if I could
We own a lodge on this park, the location is good for exploring the beautiful Yorkshire countryside however the park itself could do with a freshen up. The reception and pool area are a bit shabby looking and the staff can be a little "sharp" and unhelpful. The Gamekeepers inn serves lovely food and the staff in there seem much nicer but again its restaurant and bar area are very tired. The Bar area is quite small and the chairs are torn and dirty. Food is lovely and reasonably priced but there is a swinging door between the kitchens and restaurant which bangs every time it closes! its really annoying whilst your'e eating. We have mentioned these comments to the staff and site Manager several times but nothing has been done which is a shame. They seem more interested in the function side of the business, weddings etc. That side of the hotel is much nicer but they should remember us regulars and spend a bit of time and money updating the facilities we pay our site rents for.
I'd heard good things about the food here but unfortunately when we turned up we got turned away and told to come back after 6 because there was a wedding on. Tried to book in for lunch the following day and same again. Glad I don't have a caravan on Long Ashes if this is a regular occurrence when weddings are on.
Called at the woodlands cafe for a take away pizza but they had run out of dough. Bought a bolognese pasta instead. It was grim, more like baby pasta basically pasta in a tomato sauce and little if any mince. At £12 for a take away meal I would steer well clear.
