Lovely pub. Remote but walkable into Skipton via a public path followed by housing estate. Would be helpful if more buses during set months. Not everyone has a car or access to one. The rooms were lovely with no faff TV remote to turn on TV and easy shower where a dial was turned for cool or hot shower. Very hospitable staff. I enjoyed my stay immensely. Walkability: Easy to get into Skipton
Stayed one night with breakfast included. Amazing value. Room was clean with cosy duvet and pillows. Loads of parking space with a lovely view. Breakfast in the morning was superb with a great cooked veggie choice. Service was excellent. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting a base to explore the Dales etc..
Stayed here on Saturday for the night. We were in room 5 triple which is ground floor at the back of the building. The room suited us as it was quite private and apart from the gale force winds in the middle of the night fairly quiet. The beds were comfortable, bathroom and shower adequate and the room nice and warm. The bar was not overly busy and had plenty tables and spacious seating. The staff were friendly and looked after their customers bringing drinks to the tables rather than have people waiting at the bar. We enjoyed the breakfast which was a help yourself continental or cooked breakfast with freshly made tea, coffee and fruit juices etc. I’m not usually one for leaving reviews but was surprised by some of the negative comments left previously by guests here. I thought the Craven Heifer and its staff were fantastic and we really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back soon. Parking: Loads of parking
Stayed here as a motorhome stopover. Good selection of drinks in the bar and excellent value food. Easy walk into the bustling market town. We will definitely be back, looking forward to another meal thereLocation: 5/5
We found this lovely place while looking for somewhere to eat. We had the pies, they were fantastic, everything was homemade. The staff are really friendly too, it had a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely go again. Couldn't comment about the rooms as we didn't stay.Food: 5/5
Visited for lunch and with it being a Sunday had the Carvery. Beautiful food. Apart from the meat you get as much as you want from vegetables and potatoes. Took a while to get someone's attention to order desserts but when we got them they were lovely. Think it was because they were getting a bit busier by this point. Great location - although nice weather certainly helped today.
Stopped here overnight in our campervan. Lovely food. The hotel is busy and there were plenty folk staying in the hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming and approachable. The hotel is tierd though needs a lick of paint everywhere the seats are leather are well worn. The toilets are very tired. You pass guest rooms to enter the pub the guest rooms front door the paint is flaking off. You would think the owners would see this and not need a review on google to tell them. The carpark needs gravel in the potholes the old chairs outside detract from the look of the place. All the signs point to a place on trouble which is sad as your food and staff are a credit
Me and my partner was in the area and had seen from previous reviews how amazing the sunday lunch was, so as we weren’t from the area we trusted the reviews and thought we’d give this place a go. What a mistake that was, online it is advertised as a carvery, it’s not, it’s a sunday lunch. Which I know that may not seem a lot to people, but my personal preference is a carvery as you are able to select what items you want and the quantity I personally don’t like too much on my plate. Where do i start? Firstly, when our food had arrived the waitress brought our plate out, 5 minutes later the veg as she had to attend to a birthday cake. Then 5 minutes later she brought the gravy out, to then which she dropped so has to replace i understand that mistakes can happen, but we had been waiting 10 minutes for the whole meal to arrive. So at this point it wasn’t very warm, it didn’t look warm anyway at the first arrival. Anyway, we started eating the food. The beef was like bark, it was so chewy, it was over cooked massively and freezing. The mash lumpy, and the roast potatoes were more of just boiled potatoes as they defiantly were not roasted over. When the older waitress black hair, middle aged, came over to ask how our food was my response was, not great it’s cold and not cooked. Defiantly not worth £14. She asked me if i wanted it replacing, my response was no as it would only be the same food brought out from the kitchen, just reheated. She snatched my food away and under her breath said ‘i’ll see if i can sort some sort of discount’. My partner had eaten about 5/6 mouthfuls before saying no i cannot carry on eating this, as it was vile. When paying for our bill, i said i was happy to pay for the drinks but the food was unacceptable. It was one of the worst dinners I had ever had. The waitresses response was ‘i am being unreasonable and that i HAVE to pay for the dinner’. This woman does not wanting to be working in a customer service environment, she was rude, passive aggressive, she made me feel belittled and uncomfortable! Anyway, I payed for half of the bill as she stated i ‘had’ too. But i would not recommend this pub for a sunday dinner what so ever. When i was paying for my bill there was also another lady complaining about her food. Which I think that says enough. I have attached a picture below, to which the food looks presentable. But do not be fooled. Avoid at all costs. Food & drinks: Disgusting
Unfortunately this is closing down. Restaurant closed, no hot breakfast only cereal and toast. Staff lovely given the circumstances. We booked 3 months ago but the landlords of the property gave the business owners a weeks notice of closing. They did their very best to look after us given the circumstances. A great shame as it is a beautiful area and is a lovely building but needs a bit of maintenance.
The bar staff were very friendly and the Sunday carvery was nice. It's dog friendly and you can stay in the car park for free if dining. I would recommend.Service: 4/5
