I don’t know what regular procedure is, but someone in our party placed our orders on the phone, which was very convenient. Drinks and food eventually arrived, though service was a little slow. The food was decent and enjoyable, however. My chicken New Yorker was tasty. I think they need to change the cleaner that is used to wipe down tables because it was sticky to the point where our napkins were getting stuck and tearing.
This is a very nice, clean and tidy Pub/Restaurant with a very wide selection of Lagers, ciders and Ales etc. Like most Hungry Horses you know what to expect, big plates and good value for money.
We arrived without booking and were seated within 5 mins. What we ordered originally wasn't available, a pleasant guy explained, then gave us a moment to decide...however they refunded the difference and the bonus was they had the atomic sauce which we've not had in so long! The food was delicious, sorry no pics it went too soon and too well. The staff were extremely accommodating with our order, I am quite particular. Bethany Jayne served us and was very polite and helpful. We had a lovely evening, the food was delicious we even opted for dessert!
A rather popular family-friendly restaurant. I would say that the food represents good value for money and is of a decent quality. They run special offers throughout the week, such as a buy one get one free burger night on Fridays. There is a good amount of parking on site, but it fills up during busy times. Minor complaints: as the photos show, we were given a dirty fork which took the busy staff quite some time to replace and the sauces provided had an empty sachet in there. If you're expecting fine dining, it isn't for you, but it's cheap and comfy.
Food was lovely shame the furniture didn't live up to the same standard, the chair my husband was sat on looked like a dog had a good chew on it.
The food is acceptable but the tables are looking very, very tired and the seat disgusting.... Someone needs to spend a bit of money on the interior because the food is the only thing that shines in this place.
Came here for a cheese and wine night! It was in aid of MacMillan. The board were out of this world. The chef, Vicky, did an incredible job. It was a really good night, thoroughly enjoyed it. Cant wait to for the next one
Went for a Christmas meal and pretty sure the whole meal was a microwave meal. It was gross and the hot cake we were meant to have was cold. Would only recommend to go here if you want a burger and chips, they’re nice!
I've been to Hungry Horse pubs before, I know what they are and what you get, but this afternoon fell way below the low standard I'm used to. Really poor experience all round. Don't want to rant and complain, but I can't stand poor quality and poor service. Large party so reserved table, poor communication and message response time but eventually days after initial contact managed to get a reply and booked it. Emailed an order through using the Hungry Horse booking portal through the app. Paid a deposit over the phone. Arrived on time and shown to table. After 15 mins I queried when out food would arrive. The server said they didn't have anything on the system and we'd have to reorder. Loads of sides off the menu as was several items from the child menu. Our table was booked for two, it was twenty to four when our last meal was served. When the food came, it was all over the place. Wrong items served with various meals, as an example a plate that should have contained no peas was sent back and came out as a new meal....there were peas under the chips still. Kids meals that should have had baked potatoes had chips and they didn't come with the drinks ordered. Kids desserts should not have had ice cream sauce, one did. Drinks ordered when they came, had ice when they shouldn't have where are as others didn't have ice and a slice when they should. The food quality was poor, chips were vile, the roast dinner vegetables were bland and mushy, roast potatoes deep-fried and tasteless and the stuffing balls were practically black and cremated. Utterly disappointing. The pub wasn't really busy, there were empty tables. Even so there didn't seem to be enough staff to cope and a trainee chef was getting the blame for the lateness of the food.
Had the mega breakfast this visit & wasn't disappointed, it's well worth the money & was really good. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
