Nice little airport which doesn't take too long to get through. Has been getting busier in recent years but remains far more convenient than larger-scale airports

I used the airport from . It’s very clean, small, quiet and no shops opened. There is very near by Southend Airport Station.

It's a nice small airport. Very clean and tidy. The staff are wonderful. It's best to get there about 30 minutes early, as there isn't that much to do, but there is space. Quite a lot of flights come here, and it goes to some wonderful places.

I understand it is a small airport but there is literally nothing. If you plan to get early to your flight, don’t! The security control will be closed, the lounge is closed don’t count on it, there is no place to eat or drink something. It is light a ghost airport.  As others said here, I have been in many others small airports and I quite prefer. But this one doesn’t worth it.  The place is clean and tidy with is very welcoming, so, I hope one day they improve in services.

There and back departure/arrival to Southend airport. Let me write all the things about covid rules and exprience. Arriving to airport was easy with Greater Anglia from Liverpool street. Train just let you inside to the airport. Fairly Comfortable journey. However you can get on c2c from east London to Southend central then get taxi approx 12-15£ Included airport charge. Yes it’s a small airport as mentioned. Enough because there are no much flights and very clean, modern looking. There were 3 checkin counters open. Litlle quee but went very fast. They asked passenger locator form and vaccine status double jabbed documents. They accepted to see them on our mobile no necessity for paper print. They looked quickly so don’t expect to be investigated! Every airport we went were same in Europe they are just looking you have right documents. Then we walked through gates. Passports Checked, bag scannings done and one more time passports checked. Then we walked down to gates. All staff were very polite and done their jobs. There are only 10 gates in total. As I said it’s  clean. Only 1 restaurant was open. WHS and a small duty free was open. WHS same as on high street prices something like 2 chocolate for 1£ etc. Restaurant was a bit expensive for own but  if you have time you can have your breakfast or lunch for around 12£-15£ There was a lounge but it was closed. A lot of seating area were available. Final words, I hope this airport will carry on flight services. I would prefer it again because there are no hustle-and-bustle around. No long walks, no congestion. All were quite and satisfied.  Oo.. way back! Yes passport officers asked us only passenger locator forms. That’s it. Officer lady was polite and quick. The train was on time  and comfortable.

I will remember all my life about this worst experience of my life about an airport. I have been stuck more than 45 minutes with my 5-years children on control check due to lack of training, laziness, and/or probably ra..ism of the staff... I was quite anxious at the "last call".... This day was my last day in England I still never go back. Of course, transit to this airport to go in London take about one half day and the transport to the city is very expensive.

Southend Airport is a great airport to fly from and into, efficient and quick to go through check in, security and baggage claim and so convenient from where we live. However, the food and drink is horrendously expensive. 3 x cheap horrible sausage and bacon muffins, a panini all warmed up in a microwave plus 4 drinks cost £56!! I would recommend the airport, but I would definitely eat somewhere else first which is the only reason I gave this a 3 star review.

Quick security to get through the airport however the facilities inside the airport were shocking! The navigator is still closed, the airport lounge was shut The only things open was WHSmith, duty free and a small coffee shop serving microwaved toasties and panini’s that tasted shocking  Luckily there’s only one flight at a time otherwise that coffee shop wouldn’t cope!

Lovely visit to airport on way to Spain. Clean, etc. Staff friendly,  and helpful, particularly PP at pip up cafe. Even met Bobby the therapy dog. Delightful. Thank you.

Do some up front research on this small airport and it's great shame that notany flights are currently going. Just been and returned here with easyJet to Malaga.  Parking you need to look elsewhere I used a local Just Park site as it's expensive but I dropped family off parked my car 8 min walk away and came back. Check in was easy then through security with no hassle. Not much the other side and the pub which I've used before is now closed but as I mentioned I had researched this and we had eaten at McDonald's across the road first.  Only a few gates so no rushing.  Coming back and from landing and to being at the car park was 23 mins including collecting luggage and passport control
