We had a very good experience with Whites on a recent move. Brad, team leader, and Callum turned up on time and switched on. Extremely competent, professional and friendly and polite. We have done many moves over the years and I am always relieved when it is Whites who have been contracted. The surveys were efficient prior to the move. A good experience so far - we haven’t unpacked yet!
I have used White & Co twice now, once in 2013 moving to SA, and now to come back to the UK. I was satisfied with the service on both occasions. Their staff are polite and responsive and I cannot fault them. I would not hesitate to recommend them or to use them again.
The guy running this yard with his forklift truck is a very bad communicator, an ill mannered individual very close to being rude to outside drivers visiting the yard. It won't cost you nothing to speak nice and polite to other people, especially when they are speaking nice to you, mate! Is a matter of education after all, you do it for yourself and for your own self-esteem!
Avoid. I went with White & Co. rather than Pickfords or Simpsons, as they were very responsive and reasonably cheaper. As soon as my payment was received, the responsiveness ended. Endless emails to follow up, with repeated promises to call me back which never happened the ‘Managing Director’ was oft-cited as ‘calling me back’. Never happened, from anyone. I had to endlessly hassle them for updates, & finally had to force the shipment after 14 weeks of sitting in the UK. Their subcontractor for Sweden was clueless, & calling me for directions & access to White’s warehouse in the UK. The shipment finally arrived, weeks late, with damage. They did not clear away or unpack, as I had paid for and was in writing on the worksheet. I asked them to propose a reasonable refund for the latter, and unsurprisingly I never heard back. The only reason I am giving a 1 star, is that Jane & Sally were friendly. Go with anybody else. You’ll be glad for it..
Having shortlisted three companies for our move from London to the Wester Ross Highlands we commissioned Whites because of their competitive quote, had a base near our destination in Scotland and we had used them previously - albeit a long time ago. The only small issue was the move out took rather longer than expected due to the higher number than expected of the transhipment loads required as the large lorry could not access our narrow, winding cul de sac. The lead for the move, Kevin, arrived on time having driven down from Scotland and managed the out-move with aplomb, working hard and managing the local team effectively, speedily but with care. It was he who identified the additional time that would be required and arranged additional vans and teams to complete the move out in time to meet our move in date in NW Scotland. Overall the out-move was achieved efficiently, safely and carefully. Having left London mid-morning on Wednesday Kevin arrived as planned at our new home first thing on the Friday morning and the offload was completed the following Saturday morning. Again, there were no dramas and Kevin managed his team doing the in-move speedily and flexibly to ensure items were placed in the appropriate rooms. My wife and some of the family were on hand for the in-move and they were very pleased with the whole operation. Our long-distance move to Scotland was handled very competently by White & Company and overall an stress-free experience. The customer service was good throughout the process although much of the credit must go to Kevin from the Forres depot who led the teams and managed the practical move itself during the week so well.
I used White & Company to move my household belongings to my new home. The move was seamless and the whole team were professional and really helpful. I highly recommend White & Company.
My experience was almost identical as Adam Lewis below who also rated 1* so clearly there is a pattern. Once they have the money, the tune of the music changes so beware! I want to be clear - the ground crews who packed and unpacked were OK, not the best in the business but decent. We moved many times all across the globe, the crews here were polite, on time, efficient and helpful. This, aside from the fact that they do not know how to deal with expensive items and antiques I specifically asked for a 250 year old family heirloom painting to be single-crated just to be surprised on the other end that they added a couple of other frames in the same crate, defeating the purpose of crating the antique piece. Luckily it was not harmed but that could have gone seriously wrong!! Luckily we are not fussed with our belongings as everything can be replaced except that one piece which is why I am mentioning it here. Where it really gets sticky is with the surveyor and the admin crew who will promise you a million things to get you sign on the dotted line and wire the money ASAP. At first they are super nice and fail to disclose all the little fine print which is how they make their money. Word of advice, do not bother listening to a word the surveyor says, instead read every word on the contract on all pages twice! and compare to other companies. You will see that they are not competetive at all. They have so many clauses in there that others don't I went back after to read through all the quotes that the move costed me 40% more than it would have been with the next best removal company. Insane! truth be told, they were not even the cheapest quote I gathered but the promises and promises of the sales person nudged me to award them the job anyhow - to my regret! Do not fall for this. Better to pay from the beginning 5-10% more for one of the larger removal companies Pickfords moved us to London and were amazing and have piece of mind. I regret that I decided to award them our overseas move but once the payment was done, it was too late and they are like sharks and when they smell blood....
Very speedy and careful packers - highly recommend!
The removals went well and the company respond quickly to queries. I would have awarded 5 stars but for the fact that a strange assortment of items failed to appear at our new home. The company described how their systems were designed to prevent such things and the insurance cover gave us value minus wear and tear. However the losses included parts of wedding presents etc and no allowance is made for that.
Not impressed so far, I have made three calls asking for a salesperson to call me, and I was promised each time, yet no response to date. Reading the other reviews, has given me a lot to think about, we are moving to Spain and I want a company who I can trust?
