I am Julia Steans & my mother is a patient at your surgery. I have had occasion to request home visits recently from various of your staff to my mother & wish to express my heartfelt thanks for the promptness with which you came to her & the excellent & friendly medical care which you provided. I know the Health Service receives some bad press currently but your care & committment has been superb & I am so very grateful to all at Llynyfran. I have total confidence that my mother is safe in your hands.
Systems in place at the surgery are not fit for purpose! It is most frustrating to the patients. Recorded messages are so tedious lasting about one and a half minutes about Coronavirus etc etc before a receptionist answers. A request for a telephone appointment with a doctor is usually met with a typical waiting time of about three weeks while allowing a face to face appointment sooner. The irony of it is that it consumes much longer a time for the doctor and elderly, frail patients having to undertake a hazardous journey through winding, narrow, hilly roads to get to the surgery! In short, the present systems need a complete overhaul to meet the needs of an ageing population in and around Llandysul! Perhaps, from my own recent experience, Practice Managers should spend a couple of days studying the excellent model at the Cardigan Integrated Healthcare Centre where different clinical specialties operate under one roof to make it a jewel in the NHS delivering a fantastic service to the patients!
The actual care from the doctors and nurses has been fantastic. But the administration side of things is slow, and prone to repeated errors. Beyond frustrating to deal with. "Marion" is useless.
I was taken ill recently during a holiday in West Wales and was advised by NHS 111 to see a GP as a temporary resident. Llynyfran was the nearest surgery and we arrived as it opened at 9am. The receptionist could not have been more helpful, and one of the GPs managed to fit me in within an hour. From what I have read on social media, I can’t imagine a visitor from Wales getting such a friendly and efficient service at any of the GP practices near my London home.
Wonderful friendly helpful practice. Receptionists always pleasant and helpful.GP s Kind attentive and always helpful despite difficult job . Thankyou .
Have been with this surgery and its predecessor all my lift. Its always been a great practice. Long gone are the days of open surgery, you have to have an appointment to see a nurse nowadays. A good selection of doctors and healthcare professionals and would have achieved 5* prior to the closure of Teifi Surgery. Service has suffered a little since then and of course Covid happened. Covid precautions are very goof and we are made to feel safe in what is clearly difficult times. Its very easy to be critical about getting appointments , or not as the case may be, it is a very difficult time for all at the moment. Knowing that things can be netter prevents a 5* review, be proud of a strong 4*.
We're really lucky as this has always been a great surgery. I can't quite justify 5stars, because up until recently it was always possible to get an appointment to see your own Doctor within a couple of days, but unfortunately that's changed since the lower Teifi surgery closed and now it's much more difficult to get an appointment to see anyone, let alone your own Doctor. Sadly a sign of the times. However on the plus side all the staff are so friendly and helpful and all of the Doctors are highly professional and caring, unlike so many other places these days. Couldn't ask for anything better. One last thing to note ... There's an extension being built at the moment Nov 2019 which apparently is going to provide even better facilities.
If it is at all feasible for you to go to a different doctor surgery I would highly suggest that you do very disappointing in the service at this Doctors surgery. Had to wait three months for them to fill a form in so that I could get a medical certificate. Also the reception staff are very rude and blame everybody else for there incompetence.
Mark Thomas is the best gp we have ever experienced. He is attentive and vigorously thorough. No wonder he is so popular with patients.
I have been with this surgery for 50 years. Best surgery around. My family and grandkids have all been with them and we owe them so much. Thanks to all there
