Leicester's Corn Exchange stands in the City centre of Leicester, England. The exchange is sited at the centre of the Market Place and is a Grade II* listed building. The exchange currently operates as a Lloyds No. 1 bar. There have been buildings on the site since the 16th century. The present building was built in the 1850s by William Flint as a market place. In 1856 an upper floor and external stone staircase were added by F.W. Decent Wetherspoon's pub about ten minutes walk from Leicester Railway Station. Six cask beers on handpump when I visited. Plenty of outdoor seating. As the name suggests, the pub is located in a former Corn Exchange built in 1850. It is a grade II* listed building.
Food Cold. Glasses Dirty. Knifes and Forks Dirty. Tables were a mess. Most had chairs missing. Unfortunately. Couldn't be bothered to complain about cold food. Did take my Pepsi back as it was completely flat
I really enjoyed the food and beers. Only the service wasn’t attentive and it was a bit complicated to order. I noticed that they were understaffed as the dishwasher corner was overloaded. Nonetheless the atmosphere was good and I liked the historic feel of the space.Food: 5/5
We visited The Corn Exchange in August 2023. The pub is an impressive Grade II listed building, with a huge stone archway to the front which unfortunately was undergoing some work on our visit. The pub was refurbished in 2022 and the interior is a vast, open area across multiple levels wrapped around a central bar. The carpet is particularly interesting, with reference to the Leicestershire cinquefoil and the agricultural history of the building. The toilets have benefited from the refurbishment and the pub feels quite fresh, albeit very brown. Check out our website or visit our socials @wethowanderers to read our full review of the pub! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian and vegan options available. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available. Parking: In Leicester city centre, so paid parking is available but a short walk away. Most council-owned car parks were £2 for 1 hour on our visit. Kid-friendliness: Family friendly pub. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible with downstairs accessible toilets.
I have been cautious to leave this review but my experience is was truly appalling, for a start I saw 2 members of staff across from the coffee machines fending off flies that were hovering around drinks and sitting on “clean” glasses. The staff members were truly rude and un attentive to customers too lost in their own conversations. I over heard 2 ladies discussing their colleagues and being inappropriate regarding them. I saw a live cockroach crawling around the floor and several rats running around outside the front doors. All around a terrible experience would not recommend to anyone who values hygiene
The Corn Exchange is the perfect Pub to start your night out, unlike other Weatherspoons Pubs the Corn Exchange has music and a happy, lively atmosphere. The service is quick and the staff are friendly and helpful. I've only eaten here once and the food was good not great, but nice enough , maybe better on another day. Nice Pub to take a family to, easy access for disabled people and the prices are very reasonable
We all know what to expect from a 'Spoons, but we also like to have a certain level, even budget. I can't fault this place. We used the app for table service which was very friendly and efficient and the food was really good. Nice surroundings, good food and a smile. It's a thankless task working in food and drink, but Wetherspoons should be proud to have such friendly hard-working staff here.
Had a drink with a colleague after work. Good atmosphere, not so loud we couldn't talk. Surprised there was only 1 small screen for the football although that didn't bother us as we weren't interestedFood: 3/5
Great breakfast....Good price! Easy and quick to order!! Only problem is the place is full of piss heads!! But if u like a drink, not a problem...never no trouble and people keep themselves to themselves. Cheap drink, cheap nice food. Great staff. Win win!!
Been here a lot recently, a good spoons branch with a quick service most of the time.Food: 5/5
