What an amazing lunch! We had a fabulous lunch in the Sunday market at Herne Hill, lovely locations either amazing atmosphere and nice breeze. The menu is small but very specialised. Would recommend, not cheap but nice for a good location, the tables are quite close but it’s fine and if you get a sunny day even better!Food: 5/5
AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!! Most importantly, the food was absolutely fantastic. Every single menu we ordered surprised me. We had some bread and butter, a cabbage salad, 2 fish dishes and the pasta for entree, and peach tart for the desert. 1. You cannot go wrong with bread and butter, but even pickled cauliflower was so delicious! 2. Cabbage salad was light, crunchy, and loved the sauce so much. 3. Fish dishes were amazing. Soft, well seasoned and has a unique flavour you must try! 4. Pasta was great, first time trying truffles, it was amazing. 5. The desert...! Please try peach tart. It's THE BEST desert I've ever had. Beautifully presented, great portion, and the servers were friendly. We ate outside and the atmosphere was lovely as well. I could clearly see the restaurant put lots of effort not only the main dishes but every side dish like pickles, salads and deserts.
Incredible experience! Everything about this place was fantastic - from the incredible food still dreaming about the gnocchi to the kind and attentive service to the atmosphere. I love that the menu changes seasonally too. I will be back for sure!Food: 5/5
Outstanding food worth every penny. Particularly recommend the tagliolini with ricotta and the steak tartare starter. Lovely outside seating area - staff bent over backwards for us and brought my wife a birthday surprise ice cream we really weren't expecting! Will absolutely be back.Food: 5/5
Stunning location especially in Summer outside to enjoy the sunshine - we shared all the starters with bread and pickles and was absolutely delicious. Am usually dubious of small plates but everything married together so well and brought new interesting tastes. Highlight has to be the almond vanilla tart which they kindly made a birthday tart for our friend. Staff were wonderful and shall be returning!
One of the best dinners we’ve had this year. Incredible, can’t wait to come back.Food: 5/5
Visited Llewelyn's recently with my partner for my birthday. Although the food was delicious and we had a lovely night, I found two things disappointing: 1. They seemed to have forgotten it was a birthday dinner, despite it being mentioned in the booking. There was no "little candle moment" one might expect, and I obviously didn't want to make a big deal out of it in the moment. 2. I ordered a bottle of Macabeo wanting a white and only when the bill arrive did we realise a more expensive rosé Macabeo which we didn't even know was on the menu was what we were being asked to pay. Surely the waiter should have pointed out that there were two Macabeo wines and asked which one we preferred, instead of assuming and charging us for the more expensive option. We do plan on eating here again, but I expect a bit more attention to detail in the future.
We went to Llewelyn’s for a Sunday birthday lunch! We had such a wonderful time, Emma our waitress was really attentive and great at recommending dishes. To be honest, all the waitresses were so friendly and great to converse with and wore cool graphic tees haha. The quality of food was phenomenal; the attention to detail with the plate dressing really made you excited each time a new dish came out - we couldn’t stop smiling. The beef tartare definitely stole the show, it was nothing like we expected in taste or design. Compared to the lamb chop and the beef cheeks slightly too salty for me, but fine for others, the cod has a more subtle flavour which I really loved, especially as the blood orange and chard added a sweetness to the dish. I did however appreciate how the polenta with beef cheeks and the spelt with the lamb chop really balanced out the saltiness of the meat. I also loved the fattiness of the cheek and how it just pulled apart with ease. The grand finale was the passion fruit and white chocolate pavlova. Again, phenomenal. This was right up amongst our favourite dishes. We definitely will be returning!!!
A real gem of a restaurant! We went for a mid-week dinner and it got quite busy as the night progressed which I took for a good sign. The menu is concise but has some very good options including some really good starters the mushrooms on toast was a standout dish. I would recommend supplementing your meal with the roast new potato side with aioli - really yummy. There were a couple of options for dessert and both were fabulous. In particular, we loved the choux bun! Staff are warm and welcoming. We would definitely return especially to celebrate a special occasion.
Returned summer of 2023. The impossible task of improving the very good has been achieved! Lunchtime service visit: Delicious, from entrees to dessert. Staff warm and friendly. and delivered a prompt professional service. Atmosphere was relaxed. Menu reassuringly selective and curated. Wine list fully loaded! Recommended. Booking advisable. PS the management team have opened a coffee and wine bar next door to their restaurant that looked very popular
