Littlecote House Hotel

Story

Built in the mid-1500s, this beautiful Grade I listed Tudor manor has a truly unique story. History is literally on your doorstep: the stunning location has played host to occupying Romans, a Tudor tryst and even a Civil War army. The grounds contain an ornate Roman mosaic floor and settlement remains. Henry VIII courted Jane Seymour here, and the D-Day landings were planned within the house. England’s last remaining Cromwellian Chapel in a private house is also here, and the property offers many more historical jewels for you to explore at your leisure. All of this comes with outstanding service, a restaurant that has been awarded 2 AA Rosettes, live entertainment every night, and a host of activities from tennis to air-rifle shooting.

We recently returned from a four night break and stayed in a Signature Room which was clean and comfortable and even had fluffy dressing gowns. However our room 138 seemed to be miles from anything. Visiting the restaurant involved a 10 minute walk meandering through umpteen corridors, taking the alternative route through the Stable Yard meant going out in the rain and cold and still a bit of a trek. If staying at one of the resorts with chalets you would expect this but not surely at a 4 Star hotel. Car Park 3 which would have been nearest was permanently full and Car Parks 1 and 2 were a good walk away (too far for my husband) and were just a clearing in the trees, no hard standing so extremely muddy. We are not old and infirm but felt nothing was very convenient and not nearly as nice as other Warners we have visited.

Nice place to visit. Open house and walking environment. Some history and lovely cafe. Good for daily day out. Also gym and pool if you like.

Excellent service by waiting staff and high quality food served in the hotel. Attention to detail also very good. However, at £500 for a 2 night stay in a standard room, you realise that you are being overcharged to subsidise those who have either booked a longer time in advance with a generous discount or within 2 weeks of the holiday where again a large discount is offered to fill the rooms. Shame there is not a more transparent charging policy as I wont be going back at these prices. Bland standard response received to my feedback to Customer Services

Lovely hotel with beautiful garden and lovely castle (old house) to visit. Beautiful 'royal' rooms available to guests. The food is ridiculously amazing. Compiments to the Chef's.

Stayed for an evening. Lovely place, food was lovely and lots of choice. Entertainment wasn't my choice but was good. Grounds were kept lovely. The history in the place is amazing. The swimming pool and spa was a nice place to relax.
