Thank you English Heritage - worth 10 stars, brilliant 'hard hat' tour of this amazing building. The information we received on this tour with the 3 EH, Architect, builder/stone mason was exceptional. I would highly highly recommend booking this. We learnt more about archeology and renovating ruins than ever we could wandering round on our own. This is a working site, having started 18 mths ago with 6 months left. Remarkable work, painstakingly taken care. I think its the opportunity to be with 3 hugely professional guides that make this tour quite unique. If you're an English Heritage member then don't miss this opportunity. Fascinating.
Can't wait for the restoration work to be done and the whole site to be open again, did the free open part for something to do a few good views and a real teaser to what you can see when its going to be completed . Views from the tower are pretty good.
The place is under restoration but what you can still access is lovely. There is a exhibit with video showing the history of the place which is extensive. The parts that are open right now are still worth a look and the entrance is free during the repairs. You can see a nice view of Lincoln if you walk up the the bishop’s private quarters.
Fantastic medieval palace ruins with a colourful royal history in the centre of Lincoln, next to the cathedral
Historic place close to cathedral. Had a nice view. Some conservation work going on.
At the time most of the buildings are closed due to renovations, but still a cool place to explore
Renovation work on going till 2021 so you cant access much of the site. It was free to see the displays inside and go up the tower next to the shop on the day we went.
Beautiful place, makes you respect history all the more :
Disappointing, as we had made a special trip to Lincoln to visit here being an English Heritage member. Most of it was closed off, although there was a helpful indoor information room and small shop. Outdoors there was very little information and not a lot to see and no audio headsets. We will visit again once the works have been completed.
Amazing place would visit again in a heartbeat
