Walking along a street of residential buildings, and suddenly you would arrive at this windmill.
Closed and the gate padlocked so couldn't go in for a closer look, I hope it opens soon
Closed to the public at the moment. Was there as part of an Amateur Radio Special Event Station
A beautiful windmill to see but access to it is difficult, mostly closed for the public except one Saturday a month and only for few hours.
It was closed due to health and safety issues. I took a photo though.
Despite the fact that its sails have been temporarily removed for repair, we had a fascinating visit to Ellis Windmill. The volunteer guides were enthusiastic, helpful and informative. Our three year old son loved seeing the machinery and learning about flour milling.
I used to volunteer here and help run the mill but lack of spending by management ? looks to have signed the death warrant for this fine and singular remaining example of a small Lincolnshire Tower Mill. I note it is still out of action....Shame on the council.. I note it is currently advertised as a working mill by 'The Collection' museum website and Visit Lincoln's website.. Shame on them too! This is the last of 9 on the Lincoln Edge! Please get it working again!
A beautifully restored working windmill standing on the Lincoln ridge and overlooking the Trent valley. The windmill is part of the Museum of Lincolnshire Life and is open on summer weekends. Please check the website for opening times to avoid disappointment. The windmill contains stairs which lead up through the three floors. The ground floor is wheelchair accessible, and the volunteer guids will explain how the mill works for anyone who may not be able to tackle the stairs. The guids will fill your visit with a wealth of knowledge as you climb up the mill and follow the grain on its journey through the mill. All in all, great place to visit and enjoy a trip back in time
Very small, but everyone is very enthusiastic!
Hidden gem, snuggled between terraced housing near the castle. Worth a visit.
