We were in a big group so we tried everything on the menu which consists of small plates. Our favourite was eel pate see photo. Good quality and service. It worked out £40 per person with wine but we ordered on the modest side. The dishes were well-presented and complex. Four stars as apart from eel pate the menu on the day we visited was missing other star flavours...
we had a lovely dinner at legs. we shared 6 plates between the two of us. all were good, but three were truly exceptional: the watermelon with sumac, the melon with oil and salt, and by far the very best in our selection the burrata with fried garlic and chilli jam! ambience was perfect for a date, and service top notch!
Nice cosy restaurant. Alternative wine selection, maybe not that alternative on way London but with a lot to choose from. 3/4 BTG per wine type. The plates are small to share, tasty, not mean portions but not too generous. A good place were to chill, eat and drink well.
A little gem in East London. The place where you wish to spend your Sunday enjoying incredible and tasty food. The food, the staff, the ambience are just incredible! 5 stars!
Lovely food, sharing plates for the dinner. They also do weekend brunches!
Excellent interesting food and cheeky service in a very small venue. Big wine list. Loved it.
I find myself strongly agreeing with another reviewer. The service is incredibly attentive, and the staff have been fantastically well trained to advertise their wine menu and fare in great detail. But the small plates, while beautifully presented, and often quite imaginative, somehow lack punch and presence. Nothing stood out as excellent, and we sampled a good proportion of the menu. The wine is also at a real premium, and so what you end up with is very high end prices for something that is 'just' good.
Great food to share with friends. Really enjoyed the flavour combinations and variety of the dishes. Great customer care - thank you catering to my coeliac diet! Desserts didn't have as much finesse as the savoury menu but overall a really lovely dinner out.
I really wanted to love this place, I really did... I spent a long time thinking about my experience prior to my review but I can sadly sum it up as disappointing. This review is for a visit in early December 2017. Maybe my disappointment is in part driven by my expectations, I would also like to add that the two stars is not indicative of the service. Let's start with the positives. The staff are fantastic. They know the menu inside out and are great when it comes to the wine pairings. You can happily let yourself be guided by their recommendations. They are also very attentive. Another positive is the Atmosphere, on a cold and dreary December eve we found ourselves feeling very cosy and intimate. It's a nice space in which to enjoy your meal. The above is what gave the two, almost three stars. I sadly felt pretty disappointed with the food. Part of this may be my palate but I found most of the dishes to have far too much salt. The selection of dishes being limited, which is usually a great thing, meant that despite eating 80% of the menu between us we didn't feel anything really paired up that well and we were ultimately still hungry by the end. The wine prices were also very high, although the quality may be there don't expect anything lower than mid to high £20's, the prices jump swiftly up an echelon or two as well. This review is of course purely personal but for the money £140 for food and one bottle of wine Hackney has lots of other options I would consider before returning to Legs.
Quite the typical hype place, in the negative way. Dishes are good, but quite small for the price they cost. Good wine list. We experienced poor service, had to wait 45 minutes for somes plates to arrive. I guess that was just part of some sort of "concept"...
