I contacted the cinema 2 days before the screening to advise if tested positive for covid and whilst I felt fine figured it was the responsible thing to do. Despite this they have refused to provide me with a gift voucher of similar because I didn’t call them for the refund. Pretty awful customer service considering I was trying to do the decent thing.
Overall 3.8 stars. Seats in screen 1 are very comfy and recline a bit. Tickets way too expensive @ £15 70 for a 3D film. Fortunately, the lady who served us didn't charge for the glasses. Big up to her!
Lovely picture house, but price for cinema tickets is too expensive. The prices they are charging are West end prices. Picturehouse really to consider their prices for they will start to lose customers. Just because you're near hackney empire does not mean you're always going to get those customers who don't mind to pay a little bit more. In this climate they really need to reduce the prices.
Bit of a tight squeeze. My husband had to hug his legs all night. Prices were fine for this day and age. Would recommend for tall people to prepare for uncomfortable experience.
PLEASE FIX YOUR SCREEN LIGHTING. Lovely staff, but if your going to charge £14 for a ticket. You expect to not have the emergency lights seriously blemish large parts of the bottom corners of the projection. If your TV at home had this problem you'd get a refund immediately
I love this place, the staff is always kind and helpful. It's nice and not busy. And after a film the bar/restaurant is quite relaxing. Food is nice enough
Nice Place. Drinks were expensive so go to the wetherspoons next door before or after. If from outside the borough it's worth visiting another one local to you as there is absolutely no parking in the area and there is no car park. Parking is free after 11pm not sure what businesses they expect to thrive with this policy.
We went to a dance. It was under the stairs. The dj were doing there best but for £15 we were robed. The cleaners were coming though with there mop and bucket. People were coming though from seeing a film. It was shameful.
I visited Hackney Picture House yesterday. It is a lovely place to hang out or watch a film. I think there are definitely cheaper options, but I suppose its a way of keeping the clientèle they want frequenting their establishment. That's the only reason I can come up with, as its nothing too spectacular. The seats are comfy and the screen is immaculately clean. The toilets around the screens were also extremely clean, however, the toilets next to the bar, were not very clean at all. Whilst waiting for the film to start, I sat at the bar, and had a Spicy latte and my daughter had a Hot Chocolate, which were delicious. They had every choice of milk, which was also very good. The bar has a nice ambiance, with Connect 4 games that you can play freely at the tables. Many alcoholic drinks available, as well as soft drinks and hot drinks. There was a sign desplaying 'The restaurant was unavailable from 5-6pm'. Which was disappointing. But there are other places nearby where you can get something to eat. But overall, I will continue to go there with one caveat, I will only go if I use my 2 for 1 Meerkat voucher. As each ticket cost £14.
I visited Hackney Picturehouse first time post lockdown. There is hand sanitiser as you walk in and the staff are all wearing masks. A one way system is in place and I didn’t bump into anyone else on my way to the screen. The cinema was extremely quiet Saturday morning screening on Tenet. I felt extremely comfortable and had no concerns regarding health & safety whatsoever. Can’t wait to visit again!
