Delicious food, excellent wine list and wonderful service. The lack of any music or atmosphere, coupled with the dated carpets has lost this 1 star. But if you're only interested in the food then go as soon as you can but be prepared to whisper to your dining companions if it's not a full house!
I have high expectations of this restaurant due to awards presented to this restaurant some years ago, and high valuation by commendators as shown in their website. However, I don't share the same experience. The food is OK and decent, not the finest quality. The servicing staff are nice and helpful. However, they didn't check if we have any allergy at all. Also, they served chef presented tapas with blue cheese and I don't eat blue cheese. The decoration is neat and tidy. I would expect more characters or classy decoration giving relatively higher price point of this restaurant.
I have never been disappointed in this restaurant. It has a calm and serene ambience which is enhanced by the ;calm, polite , attentive , but not obtrusive service from front of house. The food is the star. All the dishes served to our table were excellent and we ensured we covered as much of the menu as possible.
This was a truly special place to stop for lunch. What a wonderful chef, a really effortless service, where nothing is convoluted and you get to relax and just trust and enjoy the team. We had everything and could fault nothing. A long established business that isn't jaded by covid!
It's a lovely restaurant. Food was super , staff were really friendly. Only negative is no atmosphere needs some music. You feel the need to speak quietly.Food: 5/5
I absolutely love coming to this restaurant the food is stunning. Every time I come I find the food and the wine list to be absolutely divine and the service is good. I cannot fault this place. Thanks.Food: 5/5
We came here to celebrate our 5 years anniversary. We had one of the best meal and best experience here. The service is excellent and food is full of surprises. We have already started planning for our next visit. Thanks for keeping such a good standard and serving delicious and well thought of dishes. We hope to be back again soon
Definitely worth a special visit if you are in the area, the food was original and very tasty literally a work of art. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is warm. The restaurant itself as located in a very nice neighborhood where you will feel safe leaving late at night. Be ready for your credit card to take quite a hammering, However it will be worth it!
One of the most decorated restaurants in England. It was awarded two Michelin stars years back and is now reduced to one this year. Obviously expensive, and we went for a celebratory meal, but was it worth it? Quite frankly it was not really, but we’d thought we’d give it a go. Thought it may be an evening we would regret when in a 10th full restaurant we were stuck in a draughty corner. Some of the plates were over the top, too zealous to merge too many flavours. Portions were wanting and we did leave just as hungry as when we entered. Got to say it was a big mistake....
We were in Cheltenham for a weekend getaway and the Internet was pretty unanimous that Le Champignon Sauvage was a must-stop. It didn’t disappoint. The room is quiet and spacious, tastefully appointed, if a little dull. That said, the food speaks for itself. We particularly liked the lamb and cod main courses and the petit fours that closed the meal were a tour de force. Also don’t forget the cheese cart! The Internet was right, it’s a stop worth making.
